Not too bad. I mean it is a body on frame...that frame being boxed and all the modern crash/safety designed construction.

Looking at the hp/tq between the 2.3 and 2.7 is very close.

On the low end of weight for the 2 door the 2.3 v 2.7 there is a 1.5-1.6lb per lb of trq difference and = for hp.

On the 4 door the 2.7 is carrying .6lb less per hp at the low weight end and actually is .2 more compared to the 2.3 on the high end. On the trq side the 2.7 is carrying 2lbs less per lbtq or 1.4 less per ftpd.

All this is saying in the end...the 2.7 and 10spd is probably a heavy B. They are VERY close and of course my assumption is that a safe warranty friendly tune will be available for both engines at your local dealer at some point.

>5000 pounds is just too heavy for a 2 door. Even with 35s. I'm starting to think these are going to be underpowered even with the 2.7. Going to wait to see how it shakes out as far as real world driving tests.

Bronco is between 16-16.7 hp per lb and 12.4-14.5 per lbtq
F150 2.7 is between 13.4-15hp per lb and 11-12.1 per lbtq

I would caveat the F150 as it is a truck to haul and has a 5,000-8,500 tow rating so I would expect to see a unloaded higher per lb. Also the F150 2.7 has 3.73 gears and a steeper gear in the bronco will improve the "feel" of the power.

straight power to weight it looks like it will be kind of in line with 2001 Cherokee. Again with gearing might feel better too.

I get a feeling a significant number of people here have never driven an Ecoboost powered Ranger/Mustang or F-150.

They just see 2.3 4 cylinder or 2.7 V6 and scoff at the thought.

When people start taking delivery on these trucks there will be threads popping up left and right titled, "This thing is quick", "I was wrong about the 2.3", or "So this is what torque feels like".

This. Iā€™ve had experience in an F-150 crew cab with the 2.7. It wasnā€™t underpowered at all. Pair that with the Bronco and the 10 speed and itā€™ll boogie.

I have less experience in the 2.3 and it was in a lighter car. Still plenty for an off roader. Good peak numbers and an excellent area under the curve compared the competition.
