I miss having a column shift. I’m always looking for a good one to teach my kids on.
Also, it’s the ultimate anti-theft set up these days.
Can't say that I miss it but you got a good point about the Anti-Theft set up😁

A friend once tried to move my truck at a party. He was gone for at least 30 minutes. Finally he returned, frustrated, and asked “What the hell kind of hybrid set up do you have in that thing?”
It may not be the best configuration, but it can be entertaining.

I don’t loan vehicles often, but it is fun when they ask to throw them the keys and then say you can drive a stick, right? It’s fun to watch them hand the keys back. If they can drive a stick, I figure they’ll take care of my vehicle.

I learned to drive on one of these, my first vehicle was a 69 Bronco, I think I was tramautize by the 3 on the tree and tried to stick with automatic ever since.

I learned on a 55 Chevy with a three on the tree. Never looked back! I probably did more off roading with that Chevy than most do in their SUV’s

Got quite a bit of time in a 56 4dr Bel Air with 3 on the tree when I was a teenager. It did a bit of off-roading as well, but never by design.

57 belaire. Best hunting car ever!!! 3 on the tree!!
But didn’t we just learn tonight that you can’t use a manual transmission to drive off road (or in a parking lot).

The crap we did in that car and only passenger tires! Hmmmm, makes you wonder if society is getting soft. No seat belts either. But, hey, we did have vinyl seats and rubber flooring. The wash out part was due to rust but who’s keeping score?

One of the few times I drove an automatic I almost killed my mother. She had a 75 Ford Grenada. Pulled out onto a busy road and floored it. Instinct took over and slammed that foot wide brake pedal thinking there was a clutch and simultaneously dropped it to low. Opps. She never let me drive her car after that. Hmmmm.:unsure:

So i can teach my daughter how to drive one…
I did that a lot cheaper by leasing my daughter a stripped VW Jetta for $205 a month. This is yours. Learn to row the gears.

It’s entirely possible this will be the last gas car I buy, so the manual just exemplifies that for me.

compared to the 2.7 auto it is also almost 200 lbs less over the front axle, and a lot less stuff underneath to snag on things (plus no plastic transmission pan).

for the kind of off roading I do, the crawler gear should more than suffice, but if it wasn’t offered with the crawler I likely would be going auto.

tbh, I’m still torn on whether to go with a mansquatch or 2.7, but I’m leaning towards mansquatch (price being no small part there)

This Bronco will be easy to learn on. The crawl gear is unstoppable. I’m not sure you can dump the clutch in C. I didn’t really try but seemed like no gas was even needed to go.

It is about the experience for me. Used to drive only manuals and just really want one again. You combine that with fulfilling a childhood dream of owning an "early bronco" that is family friendly and I almost have no choice!

Is it worse in traffic, most likely yes. It is now worse off road, some might say yes. Will it last longer, who knows? Does it have a clutch that might need to be replaced, yes.

BUT....Will I enjoy the crap out of it and smile every time 'I' shift the gears...HELL YES!
