I received the same letter but had made an appointment a week earlier to have this taken care of. it took less than an hour after dropping off. I had the wipers turn off on me when driving in the Heavy weather in TN early Dec, 23.

There's another thread talking it here somewhere, but I think it has to do with the motor slowing down too much (too quickly)? Many people have complained that even when they tell the windshield wipers to go high speed, they'll slow to a crawl eventually. Whether this is some type of overactive motor feature (thus slows to save the motor) or a programming problem, Ford thinks it can solve it with a code update.

I use Rain-X and rarely use the wipers. It’s going to take a lot more than this for me to let the dealer touch my vehicle.

I thought they were doing a flash on the motor computer and it was more like tens of minutes, not hours. The little mobile service guy or gal should be able to come by and do it. I tried to get it scheduled before Christmas but the service guy was "washing the van" for the next hour and they wanted me to wait to schedule it with him personally, which frankly just came as a put off. Oh well!

I am a mobile service tech for Ford and it only takes like 15 mins. It's a quick and easy recall.

They fixed this in wife's WT yesterday. Took it in to fix the hood latch issue. Wasn't aware this was an issue. Crazy thing is they didn't fix the hood latch. Said they couldn't replicate the hood ajar error, so they just cleaned the latch. I had already explained they wouldn't be able to replicate it since it happened just once a month. But at least the wipers are fixed even though I couldn't tell anything was wrong.

That's exactly what it is. Half hour tops to be done.

I got it as well. Half day to do a software update!? I haven't had any issues and won't be running to the dealer. Same with the rear camera recall...if it ain't broke I don't see a need to fix it.

They did mine during my oil change. Only took a few mins....

This is why I bought the latch ($25) and will install myself. The stupidity of requiring confirmation there's a problem when there is a known problem.

I'm assuming it's just flashing firmware to the SCCM or something?
Would the tech even notice / would it affect anything that I added rain sensing to my Bronco, or should I disconnect/disable it first?

I received the recall notice on Tuesday. While I've had the vehicle for 11 months it's not used much and has been driven in the rain maybe 6 times. I use my pick-up the most. Before I heard of this issue I experienced it the day I made the purchase. The drive home was 300 miles in and out of rain. Definitely a problem in heavy rain.

I initially thought it was something to do with the intermittent setting but they were not on intermittent. Not long after I read about others having issues.

That was the only time it happened but other times the wipers were not on as long plus I've RainX'ed the glass.

I agree that most of the time it is an annoyance. However, driving a manual, I’ve had a couple of instances where the wipers went to the slowest intermittent setting during fairly heavy rain while I was shifting with my right and starting a turn with my left. It was a bit of an uncomfortable juggling act trying to get a hand on the stalk to turn the wipers back up while not being able to see even if for just a couple of seconds.

Agree. Finally does doing something about this Several posts a while back referred to it as being a safety issue and might’ve triggered a NTSB complaint which is now being addressed by Ford via this “Customer Satisfaction Program”. My opinion anyway. I’m bringing It in since my wipers behave erradically. And while I’m there they will check the front floor vents since I don’t sense much heated air coming out when in full fan, high temp setting and floor vents selected. it should blow at least as much as the blast of hot air I get from the A pillar vents !
