It's odd that people love to compliment colors other than blackwhitegrey but when it comes time to buy one that what they all choose. Maybe it has to do with what dealers stock, much the the manual take rate being influenced by dealer stock.

I think much like transmissions, dealers stock the colors most people would take. So even though a solid part of the market would first choose a manual or a bright fun color for a vehicle that is supposed to be fun (not basic transport), what ends up getting sold is what is on the lot that everyone would settle for.

Then it becomes a self fulfilling circle.

I'm thinking bright ass hugger orange with bright ass blue seats. Like the Denver Broncos.

Or you know. Blue paint and tan leather. Whatever lol

These two vehicles (Chally & Jeep) belong to the wife. Personally, I would have thought the Jeep Wrangler would have sold more ‘color’ in its lineup (note the MOAB color sales chart), but Jeep buyers aren’t all that different, apparently, from the rest of the world (and here I thought we were). Still, I want my Bronco in a “loud” color, whatever that may be. My work cars have always been black or dark blue (look behind Chally; that’s not me!), but my play toys have always been like my Tonka trucks growing up, bright and easy to see.

2019 model years sale show that over 75% of all new 2019 cars sold were grayscale, black white gray silver etc. What is wrong with America. It also showed that LA the number one color was green. Absolutely mind blowing.
We need more fun colors!!!!

someone painted a ‘Cuda with all of its available colors. NEED! #PlumCrazyPurple

I think a lot of people don't want to stand out from the crowd. It often invites trouble.

I always hear that. And those people and that situation does make me sad. Its sad that we live in a country people are afraid to stick out because they may be victimized for it. I and my vehicles have always been proud to stand out(im a redhead kinda hard to hide). I will say I rarely leave my vehicles in a position where they are likely to be vandalized or stolen. I did have a tow hook reciever hitch stolen once.

But it is just sad that its come to the point that it has dictated limited color choices for new cars. One ironic part is that I often drive older vehicles that are incredibly easy to steal. 3 out of 5 of the vehicles I own dont use keys to start. But just like Mad Max if you dont flip the right switches.... kabooooom sky high! Lol

My take is a little different. I grew up in the '60s when every car make was unique and had its own individual character. And most model years were quite different - one from another. In fact dealer showrooms would cover their windows for a week in September to hype the suspense. But today every automaker uses the same software and algorithms to solve for aerodynamics - so the result is cookie cutter.

Today, vehicles are more of a 'tool' to get you & your goods from A to B. They're much less an extension of one's personality. Hopefully, that is not the niche Ford is aiming for with Bronco.
