Has anyone installed an aftermarket USB A or C (or combo) port on a non-Lux dash behind the BYOD mount, yet? I know it's doable, but want to minimize the size of the hole and understand if there's an easy way to get the wires routed from below the dash to the fuse panel.

I've removed my glove box and can see a path that "might" get to the bottom of the top/center of the dash, but it will take some fishing to get wires run. And I don't think it would be easy to install one of those socket w/ screw down nut on the underside ports. I'm leaning toward one of these:

Yep, did it last weekend. Fishing the wire to the glove compartment side was the toughest part. Got lucky after a couple tries. Drilled a 1/4” hole to run my wire leads. Then fished it across to the driver side fuse box by lowering the driver side trim panel, and the trim below the main control center that’s above the usb charger in the center.

Nice info here—thanks to those pics I was brave enough to also make a 1” hole dead center of the middle dash compartment.
Some tips: 1) There are several wires under there, so drill slowly by hand. It’s just plastic. Wear a rubberized work glove and turn the drill/hole saw by hand until it just breaks through. 2) Make the hole dead center if you need space underneath, like for the back of the USB socket or cigarette lighter socket. There’s 5” of open space below the center, but there are more wires, and metal/plastic that I could feel in all directions as I probed inside the hole I made. 3) A 1” hole saw worked perfectly. You could go larger, maybe 2”, and still have a lot of clearance underneath, but you will have to push wires around.

Check out my homemade accessory rail and ham radio setup. I’ll probably coat the aluminum tube with black Flex Seal or textured spray paint.

Oh, and the wires were easily fished from the glove box using a length of 10 gauge insulated solid copper wire. Poked it through my hole, tight to the passenger side, then looked for it from under the dash.
For those curious, I used my Aux. switches to power the radio. I connected the radio wire to B1(Brn/Wht) wire behind the glove box, and connected B1 to Aux 1 under the hood. Now I have an ignition-switched circuit for the radio. Even though I don’t intend on ever switching it off, the ignition-powered circuit is very handy.

Mine did not come with hardware. What screws did you use?

This is a great solution. Since the unit is flush. You only need to drill holes for the Wires. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B091CSCH6M/ref=sw_img_1?smid=ADASGHHKPU5IB&th=1

I just added the USB port. I hooked it into accessory switch 6. Heated up a pick to melt the holes for the 2 screws. Drilled a hole for the wire - used a hanger to find a path over behind the glovebox. Then pulled the wires up to the dash.

That's my same question. Can someone post which wires exactly you're using (color?) (edit: I'm guessing from the previous post above the black and red one). Did you need to split the wires so that they still power what they were originally used for?

I plan on adding the oem aux switches at some point, is this a mod I should do after I do this or does it not matter?

Black and red wire are from the USB port. You will need to go down and remove the glovebox. The owners manual - in the dash screen goes over the power from the Aux switches from the overhead console. you will need to hook up power under the hood - to provide power to the wires behind the dash.
