Did some digging. It's an allocation penalty according to someone that owns a Ford dealership. No specific details to share though.

I will double confirm this.

It's been mentioned it is not a monetary penalty.

So basically...Ford will put the dealer in the dog house.
only if they were on the web site early and getting the time and date stamp would this even matter - I get that Ford has been lack luster with the allocation communications but you guys are giving these dealers way too much credit for foreseeing the reaction to the roll out

Anyway from what other have said that it effects their own allocations for future stock - this makes more sense

I believe my dealer is asking for a $500 deposit. I'm not sure if it is refundable or not.

TBH I don't care if it is or not.

I am OK with a non-refundable deposit of anything up to 5%. It's called a "commitment" which seems to be one of those concepts lost on our society lately.
When I tell Ford to build a specific configuration, then I am willing to put my money where my mouth is. I also expect Ford to deliver that configuration within a reasonable timeframe of what they have stated when the order is placed. I know others in this forum seem to have differing views, but each time I have ordered from Ford in the past (three times) they followed through. I don't see a reason why now would be the exception. I just want to get to that point where the order is submitted.....Everything prior to that point is just talk.
