Any good dealer should work on building a relationship. I bought my Honda Accord from the most lame salesperson. He was a literal stick in the mud, never going there again.You'd think salespersons would be more up on the products they will offer. On the other hand, maybe a salesperson doesn't see much value in getting a customer interested in a product, which can't even be purchased until next year. They want to make a sale right now.
But my dad bought 4 Chevy's from the same salesman because he first established a relationship. One sale now, or a lifetime of sales later?
