well, not entirely meaningless, it does lock you in to whatever markup the cram down your throat.

Received a phone call from my dealer yesterday as well, confirmed that I was 3rd in the reservation list for our area and indicated that they will commence taking orders mid January 2021 till the end of March. He did say that I can drop off my order based on the build and price prior, but that he would call next month to sit down and finalize the specifics for the order... just saying

Yesterday at approximately 11:00am got a called from Pines Ford in Broward County to convert my reservation on my 2021 Black Diamond to a Purchase will meet on Tuesday the 12/15 to finalize will post when Vehicle is scheduled for delivery stay tuned folks will do follow up!!!!!!!!

They are trying to get your deposit and lock you in before the change dealer period ends. Ford is not taking orders until after the new year. The dealer can't place an order now.

This would cause me to have significant trust issues with this dealer.

My dumb @ss dealer said they did 6 orders yesterday. They said bring in my build sheet and $2000 and it should take about 10 minutes to finalize the order. They said if I wait to order that it will delay delivery. Guess I need to change dealers.
