So jealous. West coast overlanding looks so much more diverse than east coast.

Not so much west coast as western third of the country. The differences are much greater topographic relief, much more varied geology, and extremely varied climate and vegetation. Every western state has mountains above timberline, dense forests, and at least some lowlands that are desert or semi-desert.

What tailgate reinforcement are you using?

Turn Offroad. It held up well. I had way to much gear on the tail door but it didn't flinch.

I have the gpx I can share in Gaia and onX.
Basically from Spokane to Alvord Desert east of the Steens Mountains for the first night. Then to Copper Mountain just west of Mono Lake for night 2. Night 3 was south to Ballarat then over Mengel Pass to warm springs for night 4. North up Badwater basin to furnace creek for night 5. North to Ubehebe crator and then down to tea kettle junction. Then past the racetrack up through saline valley dunes via Lippencott pass to Eureka Dunes. Then we head back to the hwy and came out at Big Pine. My wife and I decided on the fly to swing by Tahoe and Bend on the return.
I whish I could have spent more time but that is the down side of group travels.
