It's going to be something I hope I never need, but want to have just in case. I don't want to be the douche with a Bronco that doesn't have any recovery equiptment to help someone out of a ditch. Saw it twice on the side of the highway yesterday in this crazy DFW weather. I wanted to help, but had no recovery rope. I do already have shackles. Just haven't found a rope that isn't pricy as hell.

If it's for a just in case pull out of a ditch, grab a 3"x20ft recovery strap (not tow strap) from you preferred hardware store when it goes on sale. It does not need to be a high dollar kinetic recovery rope. You will also need to consider that many cars don't have good recovery points, so you will need something like a soft shackle, or an axle strap and shackle to hook up to the car.

4 wheel schmitty Built are some what decently priced compared to a yankum rope. I paid about $120 for a 30ft. with 30k rating. Plus u know they have been tested. Amazon scares me with testing and safety.
ā€˜ā€™Rhino is also well made made in the USA.

Are those tow straps or recovery straps? They say both. I have some GA shackles and a hitch receiver, so I'm not knocking their products, but they should really clarify. Two different purposes o_O
Both look like tow straps to me.

I think their official answer is they have some stretch to them. I have one and If I remember correctly they even have a how to about letting it rest after a pull.

That being said I am not planning on using it like a kinetic rope.

They are a few years out on date of production but they are new in sealed bags. Iā€™m running one.

ā€œ Our 30' X 2.5" strap is designed with less than 5% stretch, which allows for reduced jolts when getting a running start to snatch another vehicle from sand, mud or snow.ā€

I'm a fan of RhinoUSA products. I have their soft shackles, recovery strap and motorcycle tie down straps, all very solid and reasonably priced.

Most recovery straps stretch closer to 20%.

I have this one for example:
