The earliest build dates I saw were in June. So the one week break is not a factor. They already stated that they would forgo the summer break to increase production through the summer. So, no new news here.

" Pat Gelsinger, the new CEO of Intel Corp., told Bloomberg on Sunday in advance of a "60 Minutes" interview airing that the semiconductor crisis likely won't be resolved for a few more years. "

Years - wow, what happens when a chip goes bad on a truck ? in for a long wait on a rental, loaner, or lease.... ugh
More than likely the same thing Nissan is going through with the turbos on their Cummins powered trucks... simply no parts for months and months and the customer is SOL.

So many moving parts. I still have no clue when I should order my MY 22' BL (spec'd like a FE). My lease is up June 30, 2022. I don't want to order too soon and have months of two cars, but don't want to order too late and have to buy some cheap used car as a hold over. I was told by a dealer here if I ordered today he'd expect I'd receive it by Feb 2022.

I sure hope the bronco delivery emails we’ve been promised for May “remain on schedule” lol. Who’s going to click on “reply to all” if no ones working???

Hi everyone, I did some digging because I read about the MAP shutdown. Hope this helps alleviate some of the worry about Bronco delays. I hope everyone at MAP is doing alright due to the shutdown, not sure if it will affect employees working there. Lets hang in there everyone!!!

Chip shortages force Ford to cut more vehicle production, but the automaker promises the summer delivery of the Bronco remains 'on track'

May 5, 2021

Relentless supply chain challenges continue at Ford Motor Co., the Dearborn, Michigan, automaker that is launching major vehicles this year during a global pandemic and parts shortage.

The company has announced more factory changes to accommodate the lack of semiconductor chips needed to operate everything from driving safety features and cameras to infotainment systems.

Ford has the new Ford F-150 pickup, Mustang Mach-E, Bronco Sport and Bronco, and the company is under tremendous pressure to fill orders as dealers clamor for the trucks and SUVs.

John Savona, Ford vice president of manufacturing and labor affairs, released a memo to all manufacturing employees on Wednesday that said challenges in the company's North American plants continue:

  • Chicago Assembly Plant, Flat Rock Assembly Plant, Kansas City Assembly Plant F-150 and Transit lines, and Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne will be down the weeks of May 17 and May 24. In every case except Michigan Assembly, this is a continuation of previously announced downtime.
  • Ohio Assembly Plant in Avon Lake will continue to produce only Super Duty Chassis cabs and Medium Duty trucks through the week of May 17 and be fully down the week of May 24.
  • Kansas City Assembly Plant Transit Line will operate on one shift the weeks of May 31 and June 7 to complete early builds of the E-Transit.
  • Hermosillo Assembly Plant in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico is down through the week of May 10.
  • Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville will be down the weeks of June 7 and June 14 to make plant modifications to prepare for the upcoming launch of the next-generation Super Duty.
  • Individual powertrain and stamping plants will provide specifics around their operating patterns as they are confirmed
"Thank you for your continued flexibility and commitment to building high-quality vehicles for our customers and dealers, — and stay safe," Savona wrote.

Kelli Felker, Ford global manufacturing and labor communications manager, immediately texted the Free Press, "Important to note that Bronco remains on track to go on sale this summer."

The highly-anticipated Bronco is returning for the first time in 24 years.

Manufacturers, including Ford, have been rationing their semiconductor chips for what they consider the highest priority vehicles. In the case of Ford, the company must choose between gold bricks as thousands of high-profit Super Duty trucks are parked in Sparta, Kentucky while thousands more are parked in lots around metro Detroit and not far from Kansas City Assembly in Claycomo, Missouri.

Ford Chief Financial Officer John Lawler has confirmed the company had approximately 22,000 vehicles parked by the end of March awaiting parts.

Ford has said the situation is expected to dramatically affect production in April, May and June, which depressed its stock price last week.

Pat Gelsinger, the new CEO of Intel Corp., told Bloomberg on Sunday in advance of a "60 Minutes" interview airing that the semiconductor crisis likely won't be resolved for a few more years.
There's a lot of mixed messages out there! I don't know what to believe?

"A few more years" - sounds like the ramp up time for more chip plants in the US. But I'm just a drone in the economy. 🤷

All Ford gives a shit about is delivering a few 100 of the priority builds by August so they can claim they "started" deliveries in the summer. Then technically they kept their promise even though most 7/13 reservations get delivered in November.

Ford is going to lose close to a million units of production this year due to the chip shortage.

You honestly think the priority Bronco deliveries overshadows that? That's like pissing in the ocean.

I know the priority builds aren't much and that wasn't the point. I just think production will ramp slower than most think as they try to get it right. Add in all the commodity constraints and I just think deliveries for most early reservation holders, many with a lot of sins, will be later than we think by the time they are actually in our garages. And Ford keeps saying deliveries by summer which is obviously true. What isn't obvious is how many in garages by the end of August.

China will be selling Bronco knock offs before Ford gets them to the dealers.
