Did I get sold a used part as new? Track bar.

I recently bought three items from a vendor that frequents these forums. First off, everything was fantastic from ordering to receiving. I ordered 2 days ago, received them today. Received many updates with the progress and then shipping. Communication was amazing.

However, I think one of the three parts is used. I will not say who it is, if I get a general consensus I will contact them directly. I don't want to do it and be wrong. I am not an expert on this, I have never bought off road parts before. They look used, parts are missing some paint, fraying, a box was sent empty with what I think was supposed to be the parts in a bubble wrap bag with holes in it separately.

I am pretty sure there is nothing wrong with the part, just don't really like the idea of being sold a new used part at new price if that is the case. I'm sure it will work just fine. The part in question is a track bar. Pics are attached. Not trying to bitch, the vendor is pretty big and well liked. My first experience with them.

How does that look used? Auto parts especially heavy auto parts bang around in the boxes. Should be lucky the box wasn’t smashed since shippers like to throw them around too. They look fine to me.

The little piece of rubber looks left over from the bushing install. Yes it should have been nipped off. A lot of vendors do not build the products they sell. If the box was not severely damaged they would have no reason to open it and look inside. I agree heavy parts get banged around. If you’re going anywhere off pavement it’s gonna get beat more more than that.

Why not shoot them an email with the pictures and ask if this is typical?

Looks like a new part to me. I just received some brand new heavy aftermarket parts that had more wear/damage than that track bar.

Alright, thanks guys. The fraying was suspect to me, and the parts not in the empty box but seems to be normal. I've never seen a new track bar not on a vehicle before.

I didn't want to accuse/ask them of anything and be wrong. Didn't figure it hurt to ask here, sorry to waste everyone's time. I will chalk this up to lesson learned about buying parts online.

If this is mounted with a bolt going thru it, it is still in new condition. If a bolt had been tightened against this surface, it would me marred.
Paint is largely to keep it from rusting during storage before being installed, and not to keep it looking perfect for years or even months of use.

Kudos to taking the high road and not claiming victim and blasting the vendor to the moon and back.

i saw that. Hard to tell if its a crack in metal or paint. I assume paint since op didnt specically mention it
