Figured this can be a cause for concern for some (beach bums/snow & salt). This is after a very diligent wash down after a couple of days on the beach. I already knew sand and dirt tend to build up back there - so, I always spray until I stop seeing dirt/mud/sand coming out - but, this is after pulling the tails to upgrade the bulbs. I guess I’m going to Fluid Film anything that seems to be steel.

The dirt/sand on the bumper was caused from removing the lower trim panel. Pretty caked.

I don’t recall ever being concerned about rust behind body panels on other vehicles.

Am I overthinking this?

Noticed on my jeep they have stiff foam shoved in the area behind the tail lights to block stuff from coming up from the wheel wells. Wonder if something similar might work here just to prevent the fling up.
