A friend that doesn’t even have a reservation, has told me a local dealer is offering to let them take a canceled July reservation. I know it’s not supposed to happen, but it won’t effect my order because it’s not my dealer. Mostly I’m jealous because they could get their Bronco before me. Thoughts??

Not possible. Ford won’t allow it.
I realize Ford has said it’s not supposed to happen, but I’m not sure that means it’s impossible. My friend doesn’t know enough about the reservation process, so there’s no doubt in my mind that this is the dealer’s idea.

Personally, I'd 110% confirm that's what the dealer is doing.

...and then drop a simple tweet to Ford asking how you'd go about doing the same and working with the dealer to jump the line too. and make sure to name the dealer specifically

Pretty sure the problem will sort itself out after that.

Each dealer has to meet 80% name matching conversion or else they get penalized. Unfortunately while not necessarily ethical it is allowed. But it might be ethical too. I don't like it but it is playing by the started rules.

I’m sure the dealer is not planning to just “let them take” the reservation. I’m sure the is a “dealer fee” associated with said taking of reservation.

Exactly. So most dealers can get one or two....?

Impossible, since the reservations are THOUGH FORD and NOT the dealer. The dealer has NO say in reservations. They are basically lying to the guy

Depends on the math. The more allocation then the greater the number of shenanigans they could pull.

Again, not claiming that it is either right or wrong. I just don't believe in it. Just like I don't agree with jumping the line or trying to pull a "flip" for excessive profit.

Sure it is. They just convert the reservation they have and sell it to the new guy. As long as they are under the 20% threshold for orders going to people other than those who reserved...then no problem for the dealer. That’s one of the reasons why some dealers are converting reservations without consent. They intend to just keep them and sell them...gaming it to land right around the 20% number that’s allowable.

that isnt how it works at all each reservation is tied to a specific person not just a number
