On the Jeep the internal unlock buttons are disabled after a short period of time, allowing you to effectively secure something in the trunk with this type of enclosure (or under floor storage in the case of the Jeep).

I have not heard one way or another with the Bronco, but considering they are advertising it as a way to secure items when the vehicle is locked, Iā€™m hoping itā€™s the same.
From what was asked to one of the Ford Reps, the Inside lock/unlock bottoms are disabled if the key fob is not near!

Awesome, that pretty much answers the question then. Looks like the tailgate cargo would be secure then. Awesome!

If only you could not lift the rear deck when the tailgate was closed...can you say oops Ford?

Thatā€™s my fear, is that having a soft top or the top down will make having the cargo enclosure obsolete if you can just reach in and unlock from the door. Ironically, going doors off it seems would be the most secure.
How can you consider anything "more secure" with the doors off? Thief just climbs thru the door opening and goes at whatever you left in there...

Wouldn't take much to secure that to one of the tie-downs so you'd have to open the gate to access it, apart from brute force.

If you park in troublesome areas, get a hard top. Otherwise, relax, get over it, get some lockable boxes, keep your super important stuff elsewhere....

The idea is using the storage enclosure in my original post to secure any items that need securing. Any items, doors on or off, wouldn't be left in the rest of the vehicle to get seen or taken.

My question was on if the doors unlock the tailgate at any time, one could press the unlock button, open the tailgate, and get to anything in there, even if you had the cargo area enclosure. Taking the doors off would theoretically defeat this, as there would be no lock/unlock buttons anywhere on the vehicle, only the key fob. Other users pointed out that the lock/unlock buttons on the doors will only work if the key is nearby though, meaning the tailgate would be secure.

Well there is/will be those cargo area covers that are secure so you can put anything in the back as long as it is lower than the edge and it will be out of site.

Of course this is with the assumption someone can't reach in and just unlock the tail gate.

And it doesn't help those of us either deleting rear seats or leaving them down....you'd have to have a cover that's nearly 6' long....

You wont be able to just reach in and unlock the tailgate. Once the vehicle is locked, and the fob is not near by, the unlock buttons wont work.

Without this enclosure however, someone could just fold down the rear seats to gain access to the trunk area.

This would still technically work if the seats were down, it looks like from the picture that there is in fact a front metal wall to the enclosure. It would still secure things if the seat was down. Definitely doesn't work if you are doing a delete and need the whole area enclosed though, you'll have to wait on aftermarket for thatšŸ™ƒ

Can anyone confirm that the door locks are not functional without a fob? I have a cargo enclosure on order with my bronco build and it was also my understanding that you can't unlock with the door switches but haven't seen it confirmed by an owner.
