Probably not going to instal ditch lights, but I am thinking a ditch light bracket on the drivers side only would be perfect for a NMO/SO239 style mount.

any recommendations on a stiff mount, that is either aluminum or Predrilled for an antenna? Don't want to drill powder coated steel and have it rust.

I swear that I saw a thread where someone found a nice way to install an NMO mount directly into the existing cowl/hardware in that area. Can't recall if this required drilling a hole. I know this is real because I stopped searching for solutions after seeing this setup. But of course, I can't find it now.

I will dig into my saved threads later to see if it was a dream or not.

Edit: Aha! https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/mobile-ham-radio-install-yaesu-ftm-300.31174/

I realize this isn't exactly what you were asking about, but is one option.

Thanks to @allhorse, I now have a slick solution for attaching whatever antenna I want.

This is how I did my 2m/70 antenna.

I needed to remove some plastic underneath for the bottom flange of the mount, but it was easy.
