yep! top left corner damage courtesy of Fedex. Operates perfect still, pretty heavy duty piece but filed claim for damage. Thought it would have been worse opening box.Is that drawer bent already?

Oh good it was in the corner where the rear door would close and I was worried that they were too big. I guess given the quality of this launch that wouldn't have been too surprising though.yep! top left corner damage courtesy of Fedex. Reading through this thread I was thinking the whole time that you could cantilever that back edge, gaining shelf space and hiding the lower back area even more. Glad you tried it out, it looks great.I like this idea and I woke up this morning worried that my sub was going to be too high and was glad when I seen that it was low enough and tonight when I got home from workI looked in my shop and found a 29”x48”x 3/4” piece of plywood so I am now deep into this project and will keep updating photos as I progress
I got mine installed when I purchased it. Came dented as well and the dealer sent it back. Might be worth a call if your willing to deal with ford customer service. What’d you put on top? Looks niceDid this last week with left over felt and staple gun. Used 1/2 inch birch but rethinking should have used 5/8 after seeing this thread. doesn't appear the 5/8 gets in way of washer storage connector. 1/2 had plenty of room under it.
Stole the 24x48x5/8 plywood idea. Covered in MGV from a local fabric store. This is seriously a no skill/minimal effort DIY. 24x48 plywood is off-the shelf. You just need a staple gun and scissors.
The storage box that I had was too long to store front to back, and got this Husky box that’s perfect.

Rubber Floor Matting, needed some grip on topI got mine installed when I purchased it. Came dented as well and the dealer sent it back. Might be worth a call if your willing to deal with ford customer service. What’d you put on top? Looks nice
I am planning to install a LED light tapping off the existing light that is already there and mount it to the side panel below the shelf so when you take the shelf out it will just stay there, also the side panel is easy to remove I already had it off when I tapped into speaker wires for my sub so it will be fairly easy to do Thanks.Reading through this thread I was thinking the whole time that you could cantilever that back edge, gaining shelf space and hiding the lower back area even more. I'm waiting for someone to tap that 12V and put a light underneath!
I put the rear seat down and slide it in the left rear door into position then put the seat back up to hold it in place so it doesn't really matter what top you have on; the way I am building my shelf it you would have to take it out to sleep, you might what to stick with the 2'X4' shelf if you are planning to take it in and out a lot and/or store inside. This is a great solution!
Question: How hard is this to install and remove with the MIC on? I see a lot of partially raised soft tops, which makes me wonder if the top gets in the way?
Also: You have given me some ideas for mods of my own.....
I initially wanted to make a full width drawer/sleeping platform, but perhaps this shelf could rigged to be taken down and rotated for when sleep is needed.... Saving precious space.
That looks really great and functional too. Great job!I have a family of five and do the travel thing like so many of us. This got me to thinking about trying what I could to potentially improve the trunk storage. So looking at the trunk, you could see on the sides of the trunk, natural ledges on each side.
So I measured it out and went into Lowes and purchased a 24x48 by 5/8 inch thick board.
It fit perfectly!
Here's a picture of the board dimensions.
It leaves some room in case you have the hard top prep kit.
After that, I decided that I was going to take a look at what it would look like with a quick spray paint of black on one side to see if I like that, or if I wanted to try to match it as close as I could with spray paint to the rapid red of my Bronco.
Above was a first coat of black.
Then, the other side red.
Here is how it looks black or stealth side up.
And for no particular reason, I decided to do the other side of the board as close as I could to color match to rapid red.
This board does not go all the way to the tailgate door, that's would require some real precision wood cutting.
I will post some pics of family luggage and the like as an example of what it potentially would be used like.
(Now, I know I could just stack these on top, but considering how easy and inexpensive this storage shelf is I find that I like it.)
When carry-ons are laid flat, they do not block rearview sightlines.
I spray painted some felt to prevent scratching and rattling.
I'm going to go back and get the colors looking much better.
But all and all an extremely cheap and easy accessory for the 4dr.
I have never modified or worked on a car before so would like any improvements you all could think of.
you could score the board across in 2 spots so will break into smaller pieces. One thing concerns me, where is that board going if you get rear ended?
