Wow. I have no need for a radio like that, but now I kind of want one. LOL.
I didn't either until I went offroading for the first time in the Bronco. And I have to admit, I didn't think I was going to like the look of the dual antennas (AM/FM + the GMRS), but I actually think it looks pretty cool!

Awesome install video. I have all of my parts ready to install this weekend. Quick question. Did you consider tapping into the power from the USB instead of the Aux switch?
Thanks!

No, I didn't consider tapping into the USB power lead, but I wouldn't if I had it to do over. Primarily because I wanted dedicated power to the radio. I didn't want to siphon any amperage off of any other circuit. For instance, the 12V outlets are rated for 20A, and I want to know they have that capacity. Putting a radio on them would reduce the power I could get out of a 12V outlet. Same general principle as to why I wouldn't have put it on the USB lead.

Additionally, and probably even more important, I wanted to be able to use the Aux switch!! **Satisfying Tick** Yeeeeeehaw!!!.....

You bet! Good luck with the install!

As a side note, the purple and green wire was for the Aux 3 switch. If you want to use a different switch just pick the color wire for the switch you want to use. You can find this info in the owners manual.

Hey, great video.

I was originally confused on how to get the center console out, where the mounting location was, and how to route the cable from the radio to the engine bay.
This cleared all of that up for me. I’m pretty decided I’m going to replicate this, just not sure yet if I’m going to use an Aux switch or go straight to the battery.
Originally I was going to go straight to the battery, but since I plan to disconnect the handheld unit when not in use, I’m leaning aux switch now to ensure it’s off.

Aux switch is definitely the way to go. I listen to the highway channels sometimes. If they get to where they bother me I can just flip the switch. Not only super easy, but also super satisfying to flip that sweet overhead switch!

And yeah, to your point, when you've got the hand mic stowed away there is no point in the radio having power.
