Your retro setup is looking great!

I would love to send you a pair of heritage badges in gloss white to go along with your bronco! Not many people go for the retro look and I'd like to give you my support on this awesome build. They aren't available yet, but they will be soon. Let me know if you are interested!

I've finished the wheels and very happy with how they turned out.

Top is next, but waiting for it to be replaced first of course before I do any work on it.
Loving your posts and your videos! Planning on doing a lot of similar things to my Bronco when I finally commit to converting my reso. Keep it up!

I have found rattle an appliance pant holds up better on rims. They do make white. Have you tried appliance paint? Do you have better results with what you used?
I have never tried appliance paint but good suggestion!

Looks awesome!

How long do you expect Rustoleum to last? Last time I did that on my car every time I changed the tires the shop would scratch the paint on the rims and they looked like crap after a few years.
Ya I hear ya, time will tell. Good news is I won't have to replace the tires for a couple years or so, and I can rotate them myself. Worst case if they get nicked up I can just re-spray a touch up

Do you plan to do the top with rattle cans?
No, I think that is too much. But, some have suggested just taking a paint roller and some primer and then regular old latex paint to it, because if a couple of weeks or so Ford is going to replace it anyway! So I can test what it looks like

Add me to the Black Caps team.

Love this. The white really pulls the blue out of the AMB.

Plastidip that top white and when the new one comes in, just peel it off.
:ROFLMAO:
If I am going to do this quick and cheap, I think I would just use a paint roller and some white latex I paint I have leftover in the basement!

I really like the retro look, but I worry that it will deteriorate quickly. I've rattle canned wheels before and, while they look good at first, they don't last long. Powder coating is a much better way to go. And I'm afraid the grill will deteriorate quickly too since it is exposed head on to the elements. Same goes for the top if you paint that, too. Sorry to rain on your parade.
Nah I get it. If they don't last it won't be the end of the world! Can always get a new grille (maybe the official retro grille when it comes out), and LOTS of people will be selling the stock base wheels so maybe in a couple years if they look real bad I will powder coat the next set.

i was originally down with the white and wanted to do the same if i had gotten the base. but in all honesty i think the original color looks better on this particular rim. maybe with a cap the white might look better though.

Years ago, I repainted Vdub rims with Rustoleum. They lasted just fine and looked good. Even it you had to do some touch up later, it would be easy.

I do like the look. Very interested to see how far you take it.

Looks good. It helps to air down when masking the wheel. Gives you room to get back there.

Did the paint hold when tightening the lug nuts? I would think it would crack.
I did not have any cracking when I installed the lug nuts. They are the conical type, so the amount of surface to surface contact between the nut and the wheel is very minimal. I am sure any paint that was on that surface will be scraped off, but hopefully it will be just in that very tiny area of contact.
