Do I need the 2.7 if I squatch it out?

Will the 2.3 be able to turn those 35’s or will it be a slug?

You can get the Sasquatch with the 2.3 as long as you get an auto transmission. This is from Ford themselves.

Yeah, I know it’s available. But the original question was whether or not the 2.7 is “necessary” to run those 35’s from the Squatch pack. Just trying to get a general opinion if people think the 2.3 would be sufficient with the 35’s or not. Also if anyone is planning to get the Squatch and not the 2.7? Thanks

The 2.3 has plenty of power and torque to run 35s the way the truck is geared...and it will be strong.

That said, I would rather have the 2.7 and it's torque.

With 4.70 axle ratios and a 10 speed auto. It will be fine.

Everyone's definition of fine is probably different. However, I don't think Ford would release if it wasn't at least close to comparable to the Rubicon with it's 2.0L

I’ve been curious about this myself. I want a basesquatch while trying to save money by not going with the 2.7. The 2.3 with bolt ons and a tune should be more than adequate I hope ?

this is the 2.0L diesel twin turbo with 210hp and 369ft-lb. he says it's good but wishes he had a bit more power but that engine isn't that bad. he is running 35s

I've posted this before....but the 2.3 with the auto is a slouch off the line up here at 6000 feet...till about 15mph. I dont see any issues with it turning 35s after that and the 10 speed works great. It should have plenty of power once its gets going. The reason you want the 2.7 is to get the twin turbo....Lots of torque down low. It should be much quicker off the line.
0-15 3 seconds....15 to 60 4 seconds.......Thats about how it goes for me in my Ranger.

Do subaru (not wrx) drivers scare you with their speed and displays of speed? I'm sure the small engine will still be faster then they are.

Since you can't get a manual with squatch, and you have to get auto anyway, go 2.7
