Okay, I might be showing off how little I understand about cars here but...
I want a tow hitch for a bike rack/snow sport rack, but have no intention of ever actually towing with it. Do I need the entire tow package, which to my understanding changes other specs on the vehicle, or is there a way to just add this after market?

I thought it was still unclear what all the tow pkg gives us.
Often it is heavy duty cooling and/or larger alternator, transmission cooler, etc etc

Ford has said it's none of those things.

Literally a super-expensive hitch and wires.

Have we figured out the difference between the factory order option tow package and the accessory listing being much cheaper? Last I heard the factory option was just the receiver & wiring, no extra cooler or HD brakes.

I'm 99% sure it's just the Class II reciever and wiring, nothing else. There is already sway control built-in even without the package.

Of course... if you wait for aftermarket, you will be able to install a hitch without all the wiring.

The Tow package gets you the Wiring basically.

Yes you will. I assume there will be a plug and play option for 4 pin. These usually plug into your tail lights but you'll still need to run a hot wire to your battery.

7 pin is a bit more involved. More so if you add a brake controller.

My major concern is/was how soon will there be aftermarket options. I have an off-road trailer and I'm not going to want to wait for an aftermarket option to show up to use it.

Rethinking that now that I know I won't see my Bronco until 2022.

The accessory tow package doesn't include install. That's probably the difference in price. I may just opt to buy the accessory and do the install myself.

I missed that somewhere, but the towing is a non issue for me.

The limit is so small, the old man's Ranger boat is out of the question, so at best I'll haul a small utility trailer full of mulch or whatever.

That means you'll see a cool ass 80yo old man cruising a Bronco ....whenever I borrow his truck and boat! Lol!

Ps, thanks for the info, just saved me $600!
