We own a Maverick, Sport and a Bronco. Also had a different Sport and Maverick. Hands free phone is horrible on all currently owned three. Choppy audio. Music is fine before and after the call. Maverick is wired connection only. Wireless on other 2. And we have 3 different phones. Anyone experience this and able to resolve with any non auto update by dealer?

I've haven't had any issues with audio quality on phone calls in my Bronco or my Mustang (both using wireless connection, Mustang using AAWireless). Calls are clear with no choppiness. Phone is a Pixel 6.

Maybe I've just got lower expectations.

No issues for me with the last 3 Fords and two Lincolns. All had / have good voice quality. This includes two Broncos using both Android and Apple.

The common denominator is your phone, or maybe even you.

By you, I mean, where are you keeping your phone when your connected, assuming your connecting using Bluetooth and not a wire. Like in your pocket, or backpack, pocketbook, briefcase, I don't know, any container that could dampen the signal.

I have a Samsung Galaxy s23, no problems whatsoever, when I just connect the phone via Bluetooth or if I use Android Auto using Bluetooth.
But I also always have my phone out in the cabin, I never leave it in my pocket.

Phones just sit in console. 3 different Apple phones. As mentioned the Maverick is wired connection. It’s pointless to use hands free. It doesn’t work. Bronco did work when it was new Nov 22. Phones haven’t changed. Other than updates to vehicles and phones.

I’m thinking it might be volume/feedback of some sort. I’m going to look for a CarPlay volume setting. Voice is very loud and using maps seems low. I don’t use the hand free much as I don’t like talking on the phone, but I do recall it being loud.

You may already know this, but you can set the individual volume controls by adjusting them while that audio is active. (i.e. while CarPlay is talking, adjust the volume; while a call is active, adjust the volume, etc)

I’m looking into this now. I found setting on phone for nav volume, it was low. Not seeing anything for voice. It’s loud. Will check vehicle settings when I get back to it. Music volume is fine.

Actually I meant adjust the volume on your stereo while a particular audio "stream" is active, not on the phone itself.

It's a bit unintuitive (would be much better if you could just open a mixer type app on the Bronco display and adjust each level there), but it might help with your issue.

Start one of the vehicles. Have someone call you, while on the call adjust the volume. The call has to be active to be adjusted. Same with navigation it has to be saying something to be adjusted.

^^^this. Have someone call, adjust the volume while the phone is still ringing with your vehicles volume knob. Then answer and adjust again with the vehicles volume knob. Do the same thing with your navigation while the voice prompt is actively telling you a navigational instruction. IE: the nav must be talking. This way, you set all the volumes to your liking.

I have a Bronco and an F-150 Raptor. iPhone works great wirelessly in both.

I‘ve had spotty experiences too. Call is fine and then when I hang up, music just plays from one speaker. Apple play takes forever to sync or not at all sometimes too.

No issues here and I switch between my Bronco and F150 from day to day. I pretty much use CarPlay exclusively via wireless connection.
