There’s enough going on in this world right now to be pissed and miserable about. Relax. We are all adult enough to know this is bogus and shouldn’t happen. Lighten up on the salt.

And I bet they left a mess. :( This sort of thing is a reason gates end up installed on off-road trails. And sadly once the gates appear, so do the reasons to lock the gates.
It's the same with BLM shooting areas. People think it's their personal dump. TV's, refrigerators, furniture, etc are brought out there and they think after they shoot it up they just leave it.

One of my favorite trails in Colorado got gated. In an attempt to fend off future gates and trail closures, I started bringing trash bags, to remove trash along the trails.

It's kind of a pain off-roading with a bag full of empty beer cans/bottles, left by a small number of d*ckish off-roaders. On the other hand, it was nice driving back along a clean trail.

This bag, and others like it, hang off your spare tire. They're convenient for anyone to toss trash into and not have to deal with a bag inside your vehicle.

Agreed, agreed, agreed. I live about a mile from one and it's a trash dump. It really became a huge mess just in the 3 years before the pandemic started. Govt recently tested the ground water leaving the area and flowing toward the river 5 miles away, and it's full of metals and chemicals thanks to all the sh!t that's been left behind.

If you actually read the entire article you will have noticed that the ‘outrage’ was mostly voiced by the tree hugging Sierra Club that want to shut down motorized vehicle access to all public and private lands. If you happen to live out west, you would know that this is a normal happening on any given weekend at pick your place, Glamis, St. Andrews, Sand Mountain, Pismo, etc. Some weekends do get busier than others but since the weather out here is generally conducive to this type of lifestyle year round it’s not uncommon. What was not reported is the fact that accidents and deaths happen every weekend, usually due to inexperience, alcohol, unsafe vehicle operation or a combination of all of the above. The off-road community is a close knit group and usually self-police’s. When someone is observed operating a vehicle unsafely or under the influence, they are immediately reported to the authorities (park ranger, local police), unfortunately like any other group of enthusiasts there are a few bad apples that draw attention to themselves and give everyone a bad reputation. Don’t believe everything you read without first doing your own research.
