Finally killed my old air impact(20 year old Frankenstein special) this weekend, case split/cracked after some 20 years of abuse. FYI 1/2" 600ftlb impact didn't budge the nut and I gave up after 4ft cheater bar didn't help...

So I ordered a new Milwaukee 1/2" High Torque Fuel Impact this morning. I am going to remove the nut no matter what the cost at this point. I have used Milwaukee impacts at work for years, just haven't had a reason to get one personally. Yes I spent at least an hour on one nut by the time I got impact out then switched to a breaker bar and rubber mallet. Then grabbed my spare piece of pipe...

On big and readily accessible nuts like this I skip the impact and just go straight to breaker bar plus a 4 foot pipe. If that doesn't take it off something is wrong, possibly cross threaded? Report back on the outcome!

They are torqued (vehicle on ground not lifted up) to 350 foot pounds.

I’ve had no problems with a Milwaukee mid-torque

I have an older Dewalt electric 1/2" impact that has not let me down on breaking loose nuts.

Pretty sure mine came from Ice Mountain (has salt/grit on the underside), 4ft cheater pipe had no effect. I am a pretty big guy too... Currently soaking with PB Blaster.

Only takes a couple of double taps with an impact to go fully overboard.

When you say rear strut bottom nut, you mean the bolt that locates the rear shock absorber at the lower axle mount?
27mm nut for the lower strut mount in the rear. I should have taken a few pictures, my 1/2" snap-on breaker bar has a slight tweak now...

I will also say I found a few other over torqued nuts during the process of doing my front spacers.

Here's a picture of the bolt. I couldn't budge it with my breaker bar. I have a 10 year old M18 impact. Wouldn't move it with a 4 amp hour battery. Put the 9aH on and it spun off.

It pays to take pictures when doing projects, that is the bolt! By the time I got to the rear I was in get-r-done mode.
