Im getting a little bit tired of the excuses though.

no, this isnt a sports car. but asking for a 7 or 8 sec 0-60 from the high spec engine is not unreasonable at all, especially when the competition does it. If it cant manage 0-60, do you not think that will have some consequences for offroading?

Im not sure if it really is a 10sec 0-60, but I am increasingly thinking I need to get behind the wheel of a demo before I lay out my money to judge for myself. There are a lot of data points all over the map so far.
Middleton squatch did a 0-60 in their FE when they first got it. They’re in Wisconsin and got 8 seconds and change. The 10 seconds is coming because the air is thin in the mountains.

I will say that the testing seems very “amateur” - too many variables at play… heck, could just be someone who doesn’t know how to drive properly. Who knows.

I think there has to be a lot of torque management on gears 1 and 2. How does it not even spin the tires from a launch....

I'm glad I don't have 35s either way. I may need a tune just to eliminate torque management, once others prove the transmissions aren't glass.

I find these threads entertaining! Not to watch the Bronco drag race, but to watch all you guys stress over it. 😂
Have you been able to drive one yet?

Interesting, i always view TFL and others like them as entertainers. They aren’t professional auto reviewers at all, but i get how people think that given their monetization

After 1000 miles the trans is better off the start but still will not spin the tires, this thing is start torque limited someway somehow.

Right - I'd go with C&D for more honest numbers. An FE 2DR 0-60 was 6.3 seconds.

I don't think the 2 extra doors + altitude account for 3.7 seconds, especially because FI engines are less effected by altitude. Of course running IC vs Electric/Hybrid at altitude will always benefit the electrified vehicle.

It’s not the engine! It’s not the transmission! It’s 5,256lbs! C’mon guys. How many times are we going to do this?

Thanks for the discussion all!

It might not be all that quick but wait for the off-road vid tomorrow ;)

Car & Driver does excellent testing but keep in mind it’s the best BEST case scenario often involving a prepped race surface, sea level, a skinny driver, no gas etc. They’ll even do stuff like neutral drops to get the best possible times!

We do repeat our tests several times off camera to make sure they’re consistent. we call it “real world testing” and often being at 6,000 feet it will typically be between 1-1.5 seconds off the sea level times. And that’s before you factor in the fact we live off bagels and McDonalds and might be a little chunkier than an ideal racing driver ;)

Does it feel like there's a lot of torque management going on in lower gears? Any word from 5* on tuning that out?

I have not, but I don't have a lead foot either. I'm not worried. It's got 35's for F sake.
IAt some point you’ll be in a situation where you have to pull out into traffic. To me it lacks the confidence to get me out of some situations safely. I live in a moderate sized city and sometimes you have to just go or you’ll never get out.

Nice to see you checking in on the forums.

We've got a 4xe as well, and they're quick! Even more impressive when you consider that it's a Wrangler and not a more nirmal shaped car lol

There's still thousands of 92 Escorts on the road. Merging isn't exactly the death sentence you're making it out to be lol

Although I'd certainly prefer to go fast than slow, but there's so many cars on the road that are probably running 8+ seconds to 60 it's literally nothing to worry about.
