With the wildtrak, I plan to get more into off road trail adventures and car camping and [when sport events fully return] tailgating at stadiums. I started looking into these propane camp stoves the overland concept touted. Then I came across electric stoves.

The wildtrak (and maybe other models, I don't remember... or perhaps it's a lux option, I forgot) has AC plugs in the back.

Does anyone have experience with these? I imagine they draw a lot of power to heat up.

  • Will these over stress my Broncos battery?
  • Do they cook well? I'd be using them for sausages, dogs, burgers, and sometimes steaks. Eggs in the morning. Boiling water for coffee
  • Anything to be wary about?

Of course I'm hoping that slide out or drop down tailgate becomes an option this year for the Bronco as my plans are predicated on that...

They work well as long as you are not in a hurry.

Jackery makes excellent solar generators you could use for electric stove as well as tv for tail gating
I'll look into. Although solar generators tend to be a little weak from what I see. Again ill look into it

Personally I want to use that AC plug for TV and stove, if it's there waiting to be used

just get a propane one they are faster with less fuss.

If you want to use the electricity converter from the car to make amazing food , get a pellet grill for tailgating/camping

(i have this brand and their service is second to none , dont buy traeger)

I got one of these folds up nice. Got propane or plug in! It's handy.

I’ve never used the one on my Tacoma. I believe the truck has to be running (or accessory power on) for it to work.. I’d imagine you’d need the Bronco running to use an electric stove, but I have no idea how much power it’d draw

I really thought that electric stoves would draw way too much power. Way more than a fridge, for example.

the issue isnt that they draw power the issue is they suck ass at transfering heat at whatever you are cooking.

literally way more worth it to get a propane stove and they are basically just as small

You won't be able to use an electric stovetop with the included inverter. It will be underpowered and is likely not a pure sine wave inverter which may be required to run that stovetop.

Even if it did it will be a battery monster. There's a reason the huge majority use gas cookers. Heating with electricity is very power hungry.

We used only propane for many years, for both lighting and cooking, but now I use rechargeable "Remoji" lights (which are awesome) and cartridge-type butane stoves. I wouldn't want to use the Bronco outlets for too much except while the truck is driving and keeping the battery charged up.

Propane. Use propane. I’ve owned dozens of different backpacking & camping stoves. I work within the outdoor industry. Use propane. For car camping I recommend the Jetboil Genesis stove.
