I need to stop thinking about my Bronco order and all the gripes folks are coming up with pre-delivery so to get my mind off of it I’m thinking back on some epic road trips. A crazy one I had a few years ago was driving from Kodiak AK (an island) to Pennsylvania. Figured I’d post some vids/pics of that ride. Don’t judge my driving while video taping…I went entire drives with only seeing animals and not other cars. I was driving my 2017 Ford Raptor…Baja mode highly recommended on Yukon roads!

I’ve never been to Alaska, but I‘ve been to the Yukon (and North West Territories) - It’s beautiful up there. Highly recommend if anyone gets the chance to head up there. I’d love to pop over to Alaska next time to check it out as well.

Thanks for sharing the pictures!

Nice! At some point I'll be driving to Homer, AK, which was a favorite spot for my parents to visit. They drove all over Alaska and Canada (from Florida) and certainly inspired my trips. I hope to have some of those same adventures. Your drive looked super cool!

Hopefully your weather is better then mine! I had a front following me for two days. I had some co-workers make the same drive with way more animal encounters and they actually saw the mountains from start to finish.

Yeah, my parents and aunt and uncle (the 4 of them traveled as a pack) bought all their weather gear up there and said they needed it 75% of the time. But despite all the talk of rain, they loved it. My aunt and uncle even spent a couple of summers as camp guides when they retired, helping out newcomers and chasing off bears (??!!). The land really leaves an impression. I can't wait to go myself.

Been doing a couple of epic trips with my kid lately as well as some interesting day trips.
In February we went back to Colorado to play in the snow for a week, did some sledding and some snow-wheeling in the old Subaru.
A few weeks ago we flew into Los Angeles and picked up an antique Kenworth KE100 cabover truck and drove it home to Middle Tennessee over a week, and visited some of the Sequoia trees closer to Fresno, stopped in Moab, and visited family in Denver.
Next Monday we will head out in my Subaru for a 10-day camping trip in Southern Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico. Most of this is planned for high enough altitude that the heat shouldn't be too unbearable, but we are prepared for every extreme from desert heat to snow.

When the Bronco was revealed, I was in CO with my wife, and had just finished crossing Tincup Pass in my Toyota Tacoma, and was planning to do a lot of modifications to the truck to help its capability. But then we saw that the Bronco can come stock with all the stuff I wanted for my truck, so I made a reservation and sold the Tacoma within a few days....
The wait ended up being longer than anticipated, so I ended up lifting my Subaru and adding a custom bumper and rear locker and some bigger, more aggressive tires, and now we are here, overlanding in an AWD station wagon, still waiting. Likely another year or more before I can pick up my BaseManSquatch, so I'm hoping my Subie with 265k miles will keep getting us there....

Awesome! I'm contemplating a trip to the arctic ocean, which from here is about 8200 miles round trip if going to Tuktoyaktuk in the NW Territories. It would be tempting to venture over to Anchorage so that would make it more like 11000 miles. That's a long way so I'd pull a tiny camper and take my sweet time!

What was your route from Kodiak to PA?

Yeah, did a couple of trips recently that might be considered epic.

We did the Alcan 5000 Winter Rally in early 2020 (just before the world turned to sh!t). Kirkland, WA to Tuktoyaktuk, then over to Fairbanks, and to Anchorage. Over 5000 miles in 10 day, in early March, Well over a week where it didn't get above 0f, usually in the -20s. They set up a slalom course on the frozen Yukon River, drove the Dempster Hwy in white out conditions. Incredible time, can't wait to do it again in the Bronco (assuming I get mine before 2024..)

Also did the Baja XL earlier this year. Again and incredible experience. Looking forward to doing it again in the Bronco. We used my '96 4Runner, not the most comfortable ride, but it was a trooper and didn't let me down
