I bought my first new car in 1966. It was a Milano Maroon Corvette coupe, 4spd., 327/350hp side exhaust and a few more amenities........$5,050. My 2dr. Wildtrak will be 10x's more than that!

When people see my 2 Door Lux Badland they act like they could never afford one. They always ask "How much did this thing set you back?" They are then shocked that it was less than $50k, I'm guessing because they spent $60-$70 on a pickup. Prices for the Bronco suck of old guys like me who think new cars should start are $12k but in todays market, the Bronco isn't that badly priced.
I remember buying a brand new Kia Rio in 2000 for $4,999. 🤣 Those were the days.

Bronco is the least expensive vehicle I’ve bought.

Found my father's old window sticker for his 1989 Ford Bronco XLT about a year ago—was hoping I could find his old spare wheel cover.

$18,500

$18,500
$18,900 in 1989 = $44,972.16 in 2022
Then you add the price of tech(x3 for profits sake) and boom you're in the 50k range

The price companies are asking for Bronco accessories is what blows me away. I have become numb to vehicle costs.
Be patient and prices will slowly go down as more companies come out with products and find cheaper ways to make them. Only reason jeep parts are cheaper (which I’m just guessing that you’re comparing them to) is because Jeep’s were more common and more companies make parts for them. Toyota FJ cruisers had this same problem in the late 2000’s and early 2010’s, all comparable parts were way more expensive just because it’s a newer platform.

I’ve thought since I picked up my ‘21 2dr, OBX 2.3L with roof rails, advanced 4WD, 4.27 gearing w/locking diff, floor mats and the LUX package back in Jan of this year for less then $47K… that Ford significantly underpriced these Bronco’s. I feel like it was a steal considering the tech, capabilities, styling, how god damn fun it is to drive and simply the law of supply and demand.
Almost as good a deal I got back in 2000 when I bought brand new a base 2dr, shortbed Chevy Silverado (no carpet, 2 speakers, MT and crank windows) for $12,500.

All cars are nuts right now. Do you best to avoid purchasing unless you can somehow find a deal.

I want a hybrid maverick but I don't think that's possible for a year+

Yes, really. The Lux upgrade was a smooth $5,000 flat in the 2021. It was $1,800 more than the Mid.
Mine was jut a hair over $48k, just crested over $50K with tax. 2.3 manual with high and tow package. Not getting the 2.7, Lux, AT or Sasquatch is really the only way to stay under $50K. Not that that was my goal, just didn't want any of those options mentioned.

I don't disclose how much my vehicles cost. People have phones. They can go to Ford.com and look up the cost if they want. My reply to someone who said my vehicle cost too much: All vehicles cost too much. Eggs cost too much. Hamburger costs too much.

My Bronco will be about $18K less than the stupid Explorer that my Dad just bought.

Still, at $30k for the Bronco, Ford could have put decent tires on it.
At 20,000 highway miles running at speed with 39psi I have zero tire complaints.

'79 loaded 2 door Bonnie, $7500.

I have two complaints, and I don't even have mine yet:
1 - P rated instead of LT rated tires.
2 - Firestones (Bridgestone) and those bastards still owe me a set of tires from 1998.

The good old days. Back in high-school, I washed cars at our neighbors Olds/Chevy dealership. Everyone was shocked when a Suburban was delivered and the sticker was over 20k. I believe it was the first vehicle (chevy) that made it over 20k.
That vehicle sold the day it showed up.
