Has anyone modified ,added an exhaust system to their 2.3 yet ? the way that muffler hangs in back has got to go something simpler cleaner would be great.

There is a guy on FB that took the muffler off completely and added a down facing tip to redirect the heat. I believe he posted some videos - Bronco6x group.

there was a company testing axle back exhaust systems, on here a while back using a straight through glass packed type muffler a while back... i am sure you could find the post by clicking on forums and scrolling down to the exhaust pages...

There is an axle-back sport muffler in the ford performance catalog for the 2.3. Who knows when it will be available.

Quite a few threads in Ranger5G about modified/aftermarket exhausts for the 2.3. Highly suggest lurking there and using their search function on the topic as they have 3+ years of experience with that engine.

If you're going for looks: something can be done.

If you're going for sound and/or power: Don't waste your money

Im going to be real careful when modding the exhaust ,my focus st went from sewing machine quiet to droney i finally got a handle on it but at one point it was terrible.
Dont want ricky racer but the stock system is too quiet especially for a manual setup.

Same with my Audi, went from just right with the metallic rasp of the Downpipe to Dronesville with the S4 Catback here

Again, you want power, you go for the High Flow Cat/Test Pipe, it'll make it sound nicer without the whole drone
