Ladies and gentlemen, we have the correct length, good thread engagement, and correct rack threads. We don't have the correct taper diameter. These will work, but the knuckle must be opened up slightly. I'm going to do it, but this might be where others get uncomfortable.

HOWEVER! I have identified a dirt cheap and easy to find trail spare! Yes, the 04ish Ranger inner is a direct fit. It measures 9-15/16 from base to outer threads, vs 9-3/4 for the stock Bronco inner. The difference is insignificant. It threads right into the rack and the outer TRE.

The 04-08 F150 inner and the 09-14 F150 outer. Perfect if it would just go in. The taper needs to be opened up just 0.070" more.

So the taper is the same degree? Just need to hit it with a taper reamer for it to sit deeper?

Yes sir. And not by much. I can't find my reamer or I might have done it right now.

So the 09-14 outer is 5-9/16 from center to end. The 04-08 is exactly 12" from base to end, plus another 3/4 of M16x1.5 threads. This is the combo I will run in the end after finding my reamer or buying another. Disclaimer: if you have stock +55 wheels I think you will have interference with the F150 outer. Sasquatch may be OK.

That's going to do it for my research. I've found 2 solutions, go forth and wheel with these in mind. In the short term I will carry a Ranger inner with me for emergency fixes.

I think I'll get some Ranger ones too soon. Thanks.

You can get a pair of economy grade for under $20 on eBay lol. Or spring for something better like moog and they're still cheap. Can't beat that for insurance. Hopefully I'll never break one but if I can get home with a $10 part that's a win.

For that price you could buy 20 of them and still be cheaper than BB band-aid. ROFL 🤣

This is the Pirate6G tech we need, thanks! It's hard to tell but I assume the F150 inner is beefier than the Bronco one? Ranger about same as Bronco?

Thanks for all your information! How did the VW ones turn out?
No go. Both halves are too short to do anything with. I found it odd enough that the 09-14 inner was shorter than 04-08 too, but it made the difference.

2mm thicker, 16mm threads instead of 14mm.
