I've changed my tune. I'm an accountant, so I know that these are pure profit for the dealer. But these modern electronics... And none are cheap. When we grabbed my wife's rav, used, the finance guy warned me and settled on a reasonably price extended. It just paid off! The lane departure camera failed. $3k! First they've seen, of course.

The older the vehicle is and the more miles on it (12 months/ 12 K miles IIRC ) the higher the price of the contract. That's the only thing that matters, from my understanding.
Yep, the higher priced dealers let you get it anytime within the original warranty period, looks like Zeigler has a 12 mo/12K mile limit for their discounted pricing.

correct - that was last year I did mine and things change- it was $100 more since I was past 12 month/12k. No big deal .

And Ford warranties the vehicle as designed, I know people who have torn up Raptors and it is covered.

One of the dealers nearby that I'm in contact with offers a lifetime extended warranty? How can they do that. I can't get any details on it yet and I haven't talked to them about it but that certainly would sway me to go with them unless they jack up the price to offset that.

Just don't buy one from your dealer, he won't even give you a kiss. As stated above check with some of the online dealers, Flood, Anderson-Koch, etc. They are the cheapest for the same genuine extended warranty that your dealer sells. I suggest you compare also. I just looked for an extended warranty for my Ranger, and Anderson-Koch has the best price right now.

If I was a dealer, I’d buy the longest plan I could from the factory, double it and Then self insure knowing most people never keep the vehicles that long or they get stolen or bored and move in. They may be the only one that honors the plan. They may tell you that all maintenance has to be done with them. Dealers have all sorts of scams.

Exactly where my mind goes, too. Late on an oil change? Too bad. Out of town? Sorry.

I bought an extended warranty through Ford for a 2010 Ford Fusion S instead of skipping the warranty and getting an SE. I don't remember the exact cost, but it was at least a couple thousand dollars.

I think I used it for about $800 in out of standard factory warranty issues, so it was a massive net loss. I regretted the purchase so much that I will never buy an extended warranty on anything ever again.

@GaryB2220 , @NayNay sells them and @Granger Ford mentioned that there was another company...Zeigler maybe, that does as well. A verification would be great.

Since this is easily the most expensive vehicle I will purchase in my lifetime the extended warranty will be only my list of "must have" items.
Ford offers an extended service plan. ESP. They're comparable to other companies as far as price. But Ford gives certain protection that others may or may not.
Ford ESP will register at EVERY Ford in the U.S. and they share records which will be linked to your Ford Pass.
Only a certified tech may work in the vehicle.
Only genuine Ford/OEM may be used on the vehicle. They don't allow aftermarket nor rebuilt parts.
Deductible is 100 but can be adjusted to lower overall cost.
You can finance with your vehicle, pay separately, and some dealerships (mine does this) offer a 0% financing option too.
There's full roadside assistance along with travel reimbursement too.
There are several plans you can choose from though I recommend the premium so you're covered.
Rental car coverage.
If you trade or sell or pay off a vehicle you can get money back, they hold their value well. They're also transferable for a small fee.
I generally caution people about 3rd party ones as they can cost as much as Ford but may not cover as much as Ford will, they allow for rebuilt parts, and some dealerships sell ones you can only use with them. There's no integration with your Ford Pass app either. Hopefully this clarified some different aspects. FYI I do absolutely sell these so I'm available to price them out for anyone even if you didn't buy your Ford from us. Be careful when a dealership just offers one at a price. Make sure they're asking you how long u plan to keep your vehicle and how many miles per year. Ford offers a wide range of options to cater to how you drive. As an example I have an 8 year 75k because I drive less than 10k a year. My husband has an 6 year 150k because he drives a ton daily.

Excellent summary, NayNay. You put all the reasons I buy ESP directly from Ford in one place, in far fewer words than I would have used!

Thank you. This is part of my daily job. I've also noticed people mention price too. Ford does set a price and for dealerships like mine it's more beneficial to me to sell one than gouge someone's eyes out (my paycheck is based in how many people buy, not how much profit). Dealerships can up the costs (some dealershipsare paid based in profit). Some can double triple etc. If it sounds extreme then it probably is.

Thx, naynay... Can you explain the differences in the different plans?

Can be way more expensive. When I bought my Scat Pack in 2019, I was offered a third party warranty that would have raised my payment by $150 a month on a 72 month loan. That would have ran me $10,800 if I went that route. I ended up with an 8 yr/60K ( I don't drive much ) mile MOPAR plan for $1,950.
