I got it on my last vehicle and the peace of mind is well worth it. Plus I think that's the first I've heard of a jeep with no issues. Lucky! 🤙
I did buy Ford ESP for my 2011 super duty diesel. New engine design.
$200 over wholesale. 70,000 miles. No claims.
There are reasons to get it..

Need opinion on buying the ford extended warranty and tire protection?
Are you betting it will payoff? The odds are against you.
They make money on these. They offer them to benefit themselves not you...

If you have Geico, look into their MBI - they seem to offer it as a perk to keep you as a customer instead of a scam (my interpretation of extended warranties).

also “lol” to being surprised a Jeep hasn’t had issues. I assumed once Bronco issues started being reported that people would realize their belief that wranglers are held together with double sided tape is based on overblown internet bias. My 2018 JLU has been flawless and yet to find anyone that has had major issues that were not their fault. Internet is a weird place.

Unless you live in Florida. :(
Considered insurance contracts here and they can't be discounted at all.

Was the 2012 a GT?
I bought a 2012 (used at a Honda dealer) with just a hair over 36k miles on it.

I just replaced tie rods about 3 weeks ago (my most expensive repair at about $150 for parts). It's a V6 with now over 223k miles on it. It's run like a champ since I bought it.

Edit: I will say though all this talk about turbos has me considering an extended warranty. I run my vehicles past 200k miles.
No, my 2012 was a Premium V6 Performance Package MCA edition.. super nice car, I really enjoyed it.. but it had some issues, for sure. I got rid of it around 70k miles (I don't dare own a vehicle past 100k miles or about 4.5 years)

I worked at a Ford dealership for 15 years, and now I own an independent auto repair shop. We work with many service contract companies. I would buy a Ford ESP. Just have to grind them down on the price some. There is a fixed cost to the dealership for the contract, and they mark it up for profit. Nothing wrong with profit, if there is no profit there is no business and no products or services to buy. However, this is why the price can be different at different dealerships. Do a bit of homework before taking delivery of your Bronco and get an ESP at a good price. Or, shop around afterwards.

Remember, it's insurance. You never want to actually use insurance, it guards against the really big expense that you don't want to absorb yourself.

Same with your car insurance, and your home owners insurance, and your health insurance, and your life insurance.. Just a bunch of greedy insurance salespeople and companies, we don't need any of them!

Basic insurance is required. Optional insurance equates to to a trip to your local casino at best.
People have to create a balance between playing the odds and insuring. You can insure your home for double the value but you would never be able to collect it. Folks do it all the time.

Why do you think auto dealers push so hard at the closing of the vehicle deal? These extra add ons are extremely profitable. At who's expense?

Bottom line here is if you are so afraid that any out of warranty repair (after 3-5 years of ownership) is going to be catastrophic for you, then that tells me your total financial situation is frail. Anyone in this situation should't be buying anything that resembles a 2021 Bronco Toy. This is way, way beyond anyones needs and adding the extended warranty to it's purchase is just one step closer to financial suicide.

We keep our cars for 10yrs. At that point they either get replaced or move to toy status. A 150k mile extended for around 2k is not bad as turbos are only designed per Ford last I heard/read 125k miles. I am likely to see a turbo failure not from a POS car standpoint but a lifespan stand point. Odds are the turbo will need replacing not so much worried about the engine or rest of the driveline but my reasoning.

Bronco will move to toy status maybe earlier...might move at 7-8yrs.

I’ve never bought an extended warranty. I don’t think they’re good bets on average. I also don’t trust Ford to fix issues out of goodwill. I know too many people who’ve had $10k repair bills because Ford cheaped out on a $2 part.

Having never owned a turbo, those are the kind of things I worry about them saying "it is normal wear and tear." There are so many gotchas and fine print on warranties. Had one years ago and never used it. Been lucky ever since driving Toyotas.

Turbos was the first thing I looked for being covered on our escape warranty...lol.

Also the shortblock replacement was a TSB/ known issue with blocks cracking. If we did not have the warranty we would have had to pay the whole thing...6k. that alone paid for the warranty on the Bronco.

The 17 escape was the first time I ever purchased an extended. I have no issues working on cars but if I dont have too...
