I quit carrying 5 gallon cans a while ago too. Went down to the 1.75/2 gal rotos. Definitely easier to manage. Nothing to test the old arms like holding up a 5 gallon can in the air when you need to refill, lol.Scrap those plastic cans.
Get one of these,
Jerry Can - 10 Liter, Metal, Green NATO Spec, Made in Europe (roverparts.com)
If you order one get a spare gasket,
Jerry Can Seal - Fits 10 And 20 Liter Jerry Cans (roverparts.com)
I've been using these cans for years and still never needed to replace a gasket but I have them in case, they're a $3 item!
The 2.6 gallon size is easy to manage and depending on your driving could give you 30-50 mile contingency fuel. The big 5 gal is too heavy and difficult to manage.
Use with the spout of a giggle syphon.
These tanks seal 100% no fumes escape. I used to keep the tiny 1.3 gal behind the seat in my p/u and it never leaked a hint of fumes. I still bring it on road trips inside my vehicle and use it to fill my motorcycle with a giggle syphon, super easy no spillage!
