I received my EZ tag yesterday and "tried" to attach it to my windshield where they want it but it won't work. The box on the windshield that I assume is the navigation is in the way. I put it close to where it should be and drove in to work this morning but the tolls are not registering on my account. Anyone else tried?

I've got a KTAG (Kansas) and it's been working just fine for me. I put mine at the very top to the right of the rear view mirror stuff. The window is way too short for me to put it where they recommend.

Did you try the outside of the windshield? That way the thick glass is not in the way.
With that said, I would venture that it is not necessarily your car, but maybe a bad tag. I would try ordering a replacement, or making a quick call to TxTag support to make sure there is not something missing in the activation process. The tags are pretty forgiving since they are designed to work with ALOT of different vehicle types.

The tag placement does not have to be centered. I have mine on the driver side of the mirror section

These toll passes should just not be a thing... Ugh, I dislike the digital pickpockets...

I never run my tags. They read your license plate. The only place you really need is at the airport to on avoid paying right then

thought there is a license plate option where RFID is on the plate itself.

Secondly, you can go the "express" route and play the non cash price. No tag required.

Thanks everyone. It seems to do better up high on the windshield. I appreciate the suggestions.

Better than stopping at toll booths. Unfortunately Texas is going all Tolls. Plus they charge more without .

The pay by plate thing kinda sucks, I have a small utility trailer with a motorcycle tag on it (you can do that in Florida) and I am constantly getting letters from SunPass that I owe tolls. Turns out that a guy on a motorcycle has the same tag number as mine except for one letter (mine is a G and his is a Q) the tag reader many times can't distinguish between the two letters.

I have an EZPass from VA, which is usually in my wife's car. When I need it, I just lay it on the dash and haven't had any problems.

I have EZ Pass , PA, NY, NC, WV, OH, IN, IL etc and I just place it on top of the dash not attached to anything and it works just fine
Just for fun one time when I received my new EZ Pass, I put it in the center console to see if it triggered the sensors, sure enough it picked up. No need to be on the windshield

Where exactly did you end up placing it? About to do mine.

My TXTag seems to be working just fine. My Windshield is tinted and it's mounted on vinyl right below the blackout.
