Ok, I did a little math and came up with this.
Here are two trucks with ALMOST the exact same options. 4x4 LARIAT F150 vs LARIAT Lighting.
Ford Bronco F150 Lightning 2023 Build and Price is up and prices are way up 7F6A0650-31F8-4514-B117-6B6974F42F92

If we go off of Ford’s payment calculator then the Lighting is $745 more a month. With current fuel prices in my area, yes I know it’s different everywhere, that’s 175 gallons a month. So, with the mpg a F150 gets, you would have to drive over 44,000 miles A YEAR to of set the cost. And that number gets worse if you added in the price to charge the Lighting and way worse if you charge at charging stations.

How much was the F150 ICE 4x4? You posted pictures of the Lariat Lightning B&P twice.

Gotta add in the rebate but yeah they’re stupidly over priced. It’s insane.

You are kinda right, the tax credit doesn't effect monthly payments. You have to finance the whole amount and then you get a discount on you taxes IF you qualify.

Oh for sure, but it helps because you can add it back to the loan later. If you can afford a F150 lightning you have 7K in tax liability. If you don’t, you’re itemizing like a MF’er anyways.

Also, it's a non-refundable tax credit that does not roll over, so unless you have at least 7500 of tax liability, you don't get the full credit. Though I can't imagine anyone dropping $88k on a truck does not make well over that threshold.

Yeah I was gonna say... if you are dropping that kind of money on a truck chances are your tax liability is well above $7500.

If it isn't... I want to know your secrets, and if there is no secrets I may question your life priorities behind your back. ;)

Out of curiosity, why did you spec a Super Cab instead of a Super Crew?
It's going to bring the price a little closer, no? Not that 88k is a deal... just saying.

When I was picking up our Bronco at my dealer recently, the salesman and I got talking about the Lightning - the first thing he said was ‘I don’t know who the h*ll is going to buy these things at this price’.

Here’s Canadian pricing on a loaded up Platinum. Add to this our 13% tax and you are at $131,000. This doesn’t include any mark-up, admin, and all the rest of the typical line items they like to include. No money down, that’s $1710 per MONTH for 7 years!

These prices simply aren’t sustainable for anyone but the ultra rich 1% of the population. Unfortunately they aren’t going to buy enough of these vehicles. There has to be a correction coming…

I didn't realize that. Looks like it would cost about $2000 more. Doesn't move the needle much, but good catch.

And then one other tiny little point…

Your $1500 payment on the Lightning is based on a 5-year loan, while the $760 payment on the F150 is based on a 3-year lease. So, you know… 😉
