Farley: Ford to prioritize new Electric Ford Lightning truck for semi-conductor chips

Announced today that ford is ramping up production from 40,000 Ford Lightning pickups to 150,000 next year and they will get priority for the chips.

This would seem to be problematic for us still waiting.

Could! I remember when they announced in late July 2020 they thought reservations would start to go into 2022 for newer reservations. Yet, here we are still probably a year+ away from delivery.

yeah I hit day 506 today and have never bought a Ford before. Not real impressed. The only way I would buy another is if I love the Bronco so much that I bought an E version also if they were to ever produce.

TBH - if I could get switches and levers (and a hand brake) and a standard DIN or double DIN stereo opening over most of the automated stuff with chips I would be happy.

I would prefer the automation be in engine / drivetrain efficiency management, and maybe cameras and warnings only.

I guess maybe things like locker abs stabilizer disconnect engagement/disengagement.

Net: we jumped the shark on a lot of this stuff adding electronic complexity for “convenience” between my 2008 Rubicon and now, and I am not sure it is for the best.
