They call them "Dimensional" 2 x 4s. More like delusional 2 x 4s... Back in the day, they started out at 2x4, but after kiln drying were somewhat less than that. Now they don't even pretend...
Dimensional lumber has a standard set of dressed dimensions.

The tire doesn’t make claims to be a 35... only a 315/70-17... I tend to calculate a little differently, but here goes.

315 X (2 x ar) /25.4 + 17
315 X 1.4 /25.4 + 17
441 / 25.4 + 17
17.36 + 17
34.36

the previous post using a tee-square is also the correct way to measure, as it accounts for the crowning of the tire... because after all it is just a balloon.

edit: ar means aspect ratio, in case you don’t know... the 70 in this case which is a % of what the cross section (315 mm) is

@scooter66 you sticking with the stock 33s? I ordered the same wheel for my BL and am probably gonna stay with the 33s for the little better daily driver that still looks like it could handle a trail... What's your plan? You think we will have 35 envy?

I already have 37 envy myself, and am 6 months out. Ugh.

To the OPs concern, I do realize that measuring tires is tough with a tape, and even harder from pics; but unless that is a harbor freight tape, the tire doesn't look like it belongs in the 35 class to me.

Thank you so much!! I knew it was because these where 315's. Not 35"s. But I had no idea how to figure it out. Thanks for teaching. I suppose I could've googled it ;)
Well, on paper, it's a "35"...
But as with anything else, it's gonna vary by brand and manufacturer

Hey guys - just getting into off roading…. Got my FE 3 weeks ago… im looking for a spare tire cover and noticed that Ford only has “fits 32 inch”. I then went outside to measure the tire diameter and it’s 32 inches! Am i missing something here??? How are 35 inch tires not anything but 35 inches? Im not at all disappointed w the size/appearance- the look MASSIVE. But why would they call them 35 inches? And furthermore, make it even more confusing by listing the tire cover based on the actual diameter? Really appreciate any insight here

Here’s tire cover on the Sas wheels/tires.

It fits… but it’s obviously too small for it…
Stretched and doesn’t quite make it.

Yeah I tell myself that 33 will be enough and I know it will for practicality, but I fell in love with the look of the 35s and I owe it to my self to pursue that relationship, right? lol

Tires rarely measure true to size. Excluding some of the Nittos or Kendas they’re all smaller than claimed. Plus these are 315’s so not true 35s. Yes, 315’s are commonly referred to as 35s. I understand your surprise, drives me crazy.

BFG for example is pretty crazy, don’t take my word for it google “actual tire size” and see what you find. I think the “37’s” testing on the Warthog don’t even measure to 35’s.

I’m on my second set of kenda klever rt kr601 tires, this time 35x12.5x17, and they run pretty true to size.
You run these on your bronco? The 601’s?

Despite a 2nd day early AM reservation my dealer doesn’t expect our Bronco to arrive until Q2 / Q3 2022.

I’m on my second set of the KR601’s now. I had the 35x10.5x17 on my Tacoma (foolishly sold) and running 35x12.5x17 now on my JK.

I plan to swap the territory 315’s over to my JK when my 2D arrives and purchase fresh 35x12.5x17 Kenda’s for the Bronco.

also, I made this last night.
