The only real concern is galvanic corrosion. Paint is an adequate buffer between steel and aluminum. Steel fasteners also can be plated or galvanized to help prevent corrosion between the two dissimilar metals. Both surfaces can and do break down under poor conditions. I rate It as a very minor risk though, but something Iā€™ll check every few years or whenever it comes to mind.

over torquing and otherwise damaging the protective coating is the avoidable risk Bronco owners should consider
Hopefully Ford has solved its iron contamination on aluminum panels issue...

as far as I know the Toyota Tundra and certain Jeep products are bench marks on what not to do.
in 40yrs of driving Ford trucks not one had any significant frame rust.
I'll put up a 3rd... Hummer.

If youā€™re worried about the aluminum just slap some of this on there. It works I promise you, I use it all the time on aluminum!

Sadly I see quite a few Police reports for stolen Bronco fenders as soon as the crooks find out how easy they are to remove. Hopefully the aftermarket will come up with some type of locks, or something else to make it a bit more difficult to remove those things.
I'm going to epoxy mine in the locked position or cover the latches in a heavy amount of silicon caulking where it would be a pain in the ass to remove.

This sounds exactly like one of those scenarios where I out smart myself. It sounds so good at the time and than 2 years down the road Iā€™m sitting there regretting my decision as it comes back to haunt me as Iā€™m peeling off silicone for hours šŸ˜‚

Iā€™m with @Ecobeast on this, but maybe just some black duct tape strips, to hide the levers, instead of covering parts with goop? šŸ˜‚

I'm just gonna drive mine around how it is. If someone goes to the trouble of taking my flares off, well, I guess I'll just get some more.

They have no value outside of shenanigans and are more work than keying or cutting soft-top windows. I don't worry about that stuff either, so I'm definitely not going to worry about flares.

So until I see videos of kids hanging out the side of their vehicle trying to release and steal the Bronco flares as both are traveling down the road, I'm not going to worry about it either.

Yup, it's definitely a your mileage may vary thing. I'm getting a Sasquatch which will never be off pavement, since the flares are spendy and I don't plan on removing them then I don't mind.

I'm a little concerned with the apparent fragility of the latches, they look very breakable. We'll see. If it becomes a problem I'll bolt or goop them on.
