if it's that much of a concern just replace with something like this. Most people looking to steal crap will not have specialize tools. They will have what the manufacture states is on their cars. To piss them off use different one's

They would need less time and look less suspicious taking your spare tire. As mentioned, you could put one security type fastener in there somewhere and with any luck it would be the last fastener they tried to remove.

I was shocked how simple the release is. That being said, I leave my keys in the console at home and the cabin and have zero concern, so nope. Sorry your neighbors steal your stuff. Downtown Detroit, just gotta tip the parking lot attendant and he covers your ride
