Does this extension do anything to increase the load rating of the rack? I think some other racks that have increased load are putting it on the frame versus the hard top, but curious if anything is gained with better weight distribution.

I think it would, though can't be sure. I added it to my oem rack. Great thing of Amazon, easy returns.

This extension perfectly fits our roof rack. No worries there!

Your picture looks different from the one on Amazon. In your picture the rack extension looks black. On Amazon it looks to be bare aluminum. Do they offer different finishes? I assume you have a cargo basket on top. That looks good too.

I think they greyed out the pieces that stay from your current rack leaving the new extension pieces black. I could be wrong though.

Prob not the most desired path, but I've found that with mine if you add a platform for it, you can add all sorts. I've added the American Adventure Labs tent mount for my Gazelle tent and a flag pole mount.

ROAM box and an awning are likely next. Just waiting on black Friday deals to start popping up.

Yes, I was able to add an awning using my cheapo cargo basket from Amazon.

Though, I've seen some threads here from members that fabricated their own mounts that look MUCH BETTER/CLEANER. I ain't got those skills or equipment, so...

And considering how many OEM racks are out there, why not just mass produce some mounts? Seems easy enough to do...

Just ordered the Broaddict 5-piece roof rack (i.e., the 2 crossbar edition) AND extension. Broaddict confirmed the extension works just fine on their roof rack (which I assumed was the case, but you never know). Arrives Monday; installation shortly thereafter.

(Fingers crossed it's well-made, looks good, and is easy to install. Giving Broaddict a second chance as a previous item I bought from the company was both poorly designed and poorly machined.)
