Many of us have been interested in First Edition production numbers, but can't seem to get a clear answer. I can't take credit for this b/c I found it posted in a Facebook group dedicated to First Editions.

Here's the context, "can anyone post a VIN# higher than 3800 on a 4 door and higher than 0922 on a 2 door? If you're not sure look at the last 5 of your vin. Should look like 43800 or 20922. The 4 doors will have a 4 in front of the last four vin# and the 2 doors will have a 2. I know what everyone has heard about only so many being built and that they did not make 7000 and we have heard 4000 total from somebody’s brother who’s aunt works at a dealership. Just wanting to see actual owners post with the vins."

So - does anyone have a 2 door VIN above 20922 or a 4 door VIN above 43800? This seems to make sense - 922 2 doors produced and 3800 4 doors, unless people have higher VIN's. Also, I did a quick check of First Editions for sale and sold on eBay and none seem to surpass these VIN numbers.

So does that mean 922 2 doors and 3800 4 doors were built, for a total of about 4722 First Editions?

Yes, unless members on this site have higher VIN numbers than those referenced in my original post.

Given a Marti Report will provide specific information on 1st generation Broncos production in any given year, one would think this information would be available from Ford at some point. Just not sure how that works. Maybe Mr. Marti knows.

Mines 40622, I feel like I have seen a vin past 44000 vin on the internet at one point. I would like to find the person with the matching 20622 to my 4 door if there is one that would put to rest the assumption that the last 4 of vin is the number out of 7000. Would also help narrow down how many was actually built.

I can't find any VIN's in the Ford system (in a brief quick search) above 43532 for the 5 Door model. I could only find a highest of 20939 for the 3 Door. This isn't absolute but like I said I couldn't retrieve any data back on numbers exceeding those. Every value below them brought back a model though.

As requested here is the 2 door VIN sister https://www.normreevesford.com/api/...=05401&postalCode=90703&vin=1FMDE5FP5MLA20622
Thank you now I know that rumor is false. Hope ford issues the numbers actually built someday and how to know what number each one truly is. I'm Guessing that is the highest, I am probably rembering wrong with the highest number I have seen. I will keep an eye out and take a picture if I find any higher.
