Sad days when the performance brands of automotive companies are abolished. SVT was much more impactful to me, and they kind of are still around as Ford Performance but there are some key differences. What will become of SRT? Speculation at this point.

I see some other name popping up. I never really thought much of the name SRT, but it sucks when performance minded teams are being disbanded; signs of the end of fun.

Everyone on FB is freaking out over this on my Challenger page I follow. They’re just being reassigned to work throughout the company. I don’t really see anything negative here, they’ll work on more projects with more people and that will likely include electrification and other means to create fast vehicles. Dodge will make V8’s until the government forces them to stop.

It's all an effort to find that last dollar. SVT was allowed to make decisions that were about the performance and not 100% about the dollar. Perfect example was the '03 Cobra rods. The previous cobra used a rod that cost $1.60/ea. SVT needed a Manley rod that was $55/ea. That's a massive cost on a production car. Today that would not be allowed, the car would have been scaled back to avoid that cost.

Agreed. Picture this, a 2004 SVT F-150 Lightning MSRP was $33,830. I shoulda bought 2.

$46,685.40 in today's dollars and a 5.5s 0-60 vs a 3.5 Ecoboost SuperCrew at 5.7s...

As much as I loved the Lightning, I think we give it too much nostalgia credit. It was amazing back in the day--in the parlance of our times--but by today's standards it wouldn't hold up sold-as-new.

I would love a new, updated Lightning, but the Raptor is as close as we're going to get.

Without SRT I really see no appeal for anything at the old FCA dealers. GM has completely killed their lineup, we don’t get 10 different flavors of LS from them any longer. And surprisingly Ford is coming to the calling and actually producing something worth purchasing.
European mfgs are all circle jerking each other’s 2.slow, and Japan is becoming just as bad.

We are truly headed into the Malaise era 2.0.
