I just recently purchased a new 23' Bronco Raptor which of course is a 4 door (5 door really). I've driven both the 2 door and the 4 door off-road and there really isn't any noticeable difference in 4 wheel drivability even in difficult terrain.
Looking at just the numbers, the 4dr has a 116 in wheelbase and the 2dr is 100 in. The approach angles are identical and the departure angle is only 0.2 deg bigger on the 2 dr. These numbers definitely make it obvious that the 2 dr has a higher clearance for "high-center" situations, but other than that, not enough difference for even most experienced off-roaders to be affected. Put some 37's on the 4 door, get the same clearance now as a 2 door with 35's and better stability. The Raptor is noticeably wider at 85.6 inches vs 75.9 inches and you do feel that on the trail.....more side angle stability, less room in tight quarters.
Back in the early 80's I owned a 1971 Stroppe Bronco and that thing absolutely rocked off-road. It had a Detroit Locker rear end(factory) and a Gleason-Torsen front end (not factory), 44" tires, the 302 4 barrel and would climb or crawl nearly anything. I took it to the sand a few times down on the Oregon Coast and it rocked at high speed sand just as well. Of course I put smaller diameter paddle tires on it for that. I did break a few axles and differentials though.
I haven't done any serious off road with my Raptor yet but with it's factory equipment compliment, I am sure it will be an awesome performer. It's just hard to take a 100k vehicle and think of it getting beat it up on the trail!

For the last month or so, Iā€™ve been on a kick about getting rid of my 4door Badlands 7mt for a 2door. Nothing wrong with my vehicle, Iā€™m very pleased with it. But I just LOVE the looks of the 2 door. Now Iā€™m thinking I just need to STFU because I would probably regret giving up the cargo space.
If you can't fit what you need in a two door then you're bringing too much stuff! šŸ˜‰

Ok. Thread hijack, letā€™s talk about it. What are ppl doing for a filler to level the space with the rear seats folded down?
Once rear passengers have climbed in, does it feel the same sitting in the back seat, or is the leg room different?
Iā€™ve slept in the back of mine 3 or 4 timesā€¦

It all depends on your needs. I prefer the look and size of the 2 door but then thatā€™s all I need. If your needs includes more than 2 people and more than a space for the bare essentials, then it sounds like a 4 door is a better option. Itā€™s good to have options!

I've owned both and while I do prefer the 2 door overall... I also attended two Off-Roadeos (driving a 4Dr then 2Dr) and I vastly prefer the longer wheelbase of the 4 door on trails. It was something I didn't expect. The shorter wheelbase struggled on some climbs.
I've never wheeled in a 4dr and probably never will, but my experience has been on wheeling trips the 4drs tend to struggle more. I do think a lot of it is driver skill and not the rig since it seems less experienced drivers just tend to buy 4drs.

Having a 2-door, I have to admit when a female friend of my GF called my 2-door "cute" I got a bit of a gut punch.
I will have a 2 dr at some point.
Better looking than the limousine model
As long as I'm hauling kids and gear to go hunting, 4 dr it is.

...................

What I would add for 2-door: has a better turning radius, easier parking and since the original Broncos were 2-door...............
Yes, it's been mentioned many times, by guys who are new at driving, that they struggle with maneuvering a 4-door in a parking lot, God help them if they were to ever drive a full size truck.

6. Owning a 2-door allows you to spend endless hours posting and supporting on forums about how ā€œteam 2-doorā€ is superior and ā€œmoar doorsā€ are stupid so you can feel better about your vehicle having less utility than a 4-door.

Yeah. If you look at my profile I have a F-150. The 2-door Bronco feels like sub-compact in comparison, and I like it for what it is as a still formidable 4x4 even in 2-door.

That was not my intent, but I respect your opinion.
