Two reasons I didn’t buy a 2 door.

1) No power seats. I’m tall and the extra thigh support makes a big difference in comfort.
2) Small gas tank. Even the 4 door has poor range IMO. Living out west the 2 door would mean carrying gas just to be safe.

Otherwise I do prefer the looks and would have preferred one.
There's one that has not been brought up. My 2-door gas tank is lacking.

I love the disclaimers you tried to bake into your original post; you really are new around here! :)

I‘m a founder of the 2 Dr Cartel “Blood In, Blood Out!“ around here, but it’s all in fun. I’m not trying to win over any converts. When it comes to short vs. long wheelbases when wheeling, all I can say is, if you know, you know.….

Then again, the vast majority of these guys don’t wheel and won’t even tolerate their Bronco getting dirty. It’s the nature of things in America at the moment, so it is what it is.

The 4 door needs for many is just an example of American excess, meaning how people feel they need to literally bring everything they own anywhere to feel, I don’t know, safe I guess. Why must a 3 year old have a $500 iPad to be quiet for a ride to the grocery store? The parents can’t even make sense when trying to explain, it’s just the way people are these days.

I do just fine on trips and when camping in my 2 Dr. I would never take more than 1 or 2 additional passengers when off-roading anyway, but I watch others try all the time.

Why do guys who camp overnight pile the amount of crap on a truck that you’d need for a 2 week backwoods expedition? They don’t know, they saw it on YouTube from a guy in Australia and thought it looks cool I guess.

My point is the debate is pointless. If guys feel they need a 4 Dr, great. Saying a long wheelbase is better off-road is only said by guys who don’t off-road, or only started since the age of the JK. The obstacles that I just walk over, even yesterday on a trail here in Georgia, vs the belly drag struggles of guys in 4 doors face regularly tells the tale, but most‘s pride won’t allow them to admit it, but at least they’re out there and that’s all that matters end of the day. It’s the poseurs in either trim who are the bigger issue. :cautious:
I don't disagree at all. If you read my OP post closely and my responding posts, I am of the position that we should all be happy whether we have a 2-door or 4-door Bronco. At the same time, we have the choice. For those reading this sub who are about to buy their first Bronco and make that choice, a thread like this can be helpful. I'm also glad the thread has been reasoned and nobody seems to be taking much offense. I see it as all good. I just saw a jacked 4-door on 37s the other day in the wild, and as a 2-door owner, boy was I impressed.

I have seen like….one 2 door this whole time 😂😂😂😂😂

doesn’t bold well for resale
Yeah, I said in my OP the article said 30% 2-door and I did not buy it and said I see roughly 10% in the wild and that may be an exaggeration. No doubt the 4-door is much more practical as I originally posted. They each have their advantages.

The 2 door is the perfect vehicle for a college girl or for men that like lavender.
Haha. I already posted a female friend of my GF said my 2-door was "cute". I think the 2-door is better proportioned, but also not as imposing. I already have a F-150, so I prefer a smaller truck in alternative. Everybody makes their choice and that makes them happy.

Most of the accessories are for the 4 door. Those five reasons seem to dwindle in importance when really consequential add-ons are just out of your reach because you own a 2-door.

I agree with that, but it depends on what you want to do with your Bronco. Off course accessories are with the 4-door when it is probably 95% of sales. That is a given advantage. Also, for overlanding the 4-door is much more capable. As is for hauling kids and family around. The latter of which is big time for most. For pure off-road (and looks IMO) 2-door. So it is a pick and choose based on your life circumstances in most cases. To each their own.

I've never wheeled in a 4dr and probably never will, but my experience has been on wheeling trips the 4drs tend to struggle more. I do think a lot of it is driver skill and not the rig since it seems less experienced drivers just tend to buy 4drs.
I have only driven the 2-door off-road. What kind of trails have you driven? Just curious. I would say the shorter wheel base of the 2-door gives greater breakover angle and greater turning radius.
I specifically only mentioned climb - that's all. Not about turning radius or breakover angles. 2 Door is better at all that except climb where I saw various 2 doors struggle to gain traction due to shorter wheelbase and the front wheels lifted off the ground.

I think where you offroad also matters... there's nothing overly challenging in Florida that a 4 door can't handle - did all the usuals like Citrus, Croom, Ocala, Richloam, Tiger Bay, etc.. The man made parks like Hard Rock + Ol' Florida are somewhat more challenging. Hard Rock is pretty much like a baby Austin Off-Roadeo. Hard Rock is the only park that made me want a front camera.

The crazy SOBs in the middle east have some insane events that are mostly focused around steep climbs.

People keep telling me to skip buying/modding a street vehicle and just custom build one for pure off-road use. A street legal vehicle is highly compromised in the first place. Same with track cars.

I'll never see the appeal of a 4-door Bronco or Wrangler. Too much sacrifice for half a seat and some cargo space.
Having 3 kids and wanting to take your whole family somewhere is the appeal. I’d consider a 2 door if I were an empty nester.

You beat me to it. That is my exact situation. The half seat lets me put a whole child (at least at this age) in the middle. If I only had two kids, then 2-door would have been my preference as well. Although I suppose I could have used it as a punishment. Whichever kid acts up the most gets left at home!

Cargo area is packed to the roof, but here’s proof a 2 door can haul a family of four and their gear for a road trip Detroit>Seattle>Detroit via 11 national parks.

Yeah, I read this too, same reasons I bought it. The 2 door proportionally just works.......although I have no kids, and I took both backseats out 5 days after I got it.

It fits pretty much anything I want it to fit, camping gear, kiteboarding/surf gear, etc. Fun as hell to drive with the 7MT, better gas mileage (I'm at 21.0 after 20k miles), and came standard with a hard top (which is another factor with respect to price).

I came from a 4 door JL to it, and would not go back.
