TL;DR - Lift your wipers up and leave them up overnight (or when not in use) every day for a week! Then enjoy them working as intended! :)

Long version: I bought my Bronco on 11/15/22. The wipers slowing down plagued me all winter - they only worked properly once or twice. I was very active on the long thread about the issue, and like everyone, assumed there is something wrong with the motor. The manual states that the motor senses the resistance of the wiper blade on the window and will slowdown to protect itself if it has to work too hard to wipe. The manual also says that the wiper will speed back up once it senses less resistance from rain on the windshield. After reading this, I started to wonder "What if the issue isn't the motor - what if the motor is working properly and the issue is that there is too much resistance from the blade?"

So I went and looked at the wiper blades and the first thing I noticed was how heavy they were to lift. I lifted up on the blade of my Pacifica and it was so much easier to lift. So I played around, and even tried to remove the driver's side wiper arm to see if I could take it somewhere to get a lighter spring. I had no luck removing the arm, and finally thought to simply leave the arms raised as much as possible for a few days to see if that could stretch them. So I lifted them when not driving for a few days, probably about 48 hours total of being lifted.

Conclusion - since I lifted the blades a month ago, I have been in the rain 5 times and the wipers now WORK! They will shutdown during a break in the rain, but start back up when the rain starts up, which NEVER happened before. This morning I was out in a medium rain and had no issue with slowdown.

I have posted this several times in the below thread, but everyone seems to rather wait for Ford to approve having some dealer tear into the wipers to replace the motor, or a software update that will have no effect. :D
https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/wiper-control-speed-issues-urgent-safety.31809/

And I posted a thread with a poll for possible fixes, but not much happened there. One user here has reported that 15" blades solved the issue.
https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/possible-wiper-fixes-easy-free-cheap.70311/

Anyway, here is the video I took this morning where, they are in slowdown mode in the garage, but when I back out and the rain hits them they speed back up. :)

I've never seen a wiper motor burn up in my entire life. Why complicate things and try to reinvent the wheel? That old $30 wiper motor is now probably replaced with one that cost $500.

Because engineers want to justify their expensive eduction by making it miserable for us (and the mechanics). :p

Wow, what a weird fix, but glad to have something to try.

I will try this out, but I did compare how the wipers felt compared to my 2011 Mustang GT and 2014 Superduty and do not notice a discernable difference.

Hopefully it does solve the problem.

Back to the drawing board. My wipers worked for several days, but are now back to going to intermittent every time. I wonder if the springs tightened up a bit having not been lifted in awhile?

I also wondered if temperature was affecting them, as they went back to intermittent on a 35d day, but they have since been going to intermittent in warmer rain as well.

I've tried rain-x with no change, and I am going to try 15: blades next, if I can ever find ones that attach to the Bronco's funky arms :(

Put 15" blades on today, TRICO Onyx - they snapped on a little weird. I'll be interested to see if these help, as I was in contact with the other member that installed 15" blades and he got the rain-x Lattitude, which add a little rain-x with every swipe. I wonder if they are slipperier?

Well, we will see and I will keep this thread going as a journal.

No luck, still slowed down with the 15" blades. Still wondering why it worked fine for a few weeks, I'm guessing that lifting to stretch the springs works, but only temporarily and I don't want to be lifting my blades all the time.

My next steps are:
1. Might try lifting the blades and hitting the springs with a heat gun
2. I'm also looking to see if a different model's motor might be the same but without the goofy slowdown. Right now it is looking like an Explorer motor might work, and the explorer manual doesn't have the note about wiper protection mode that the bronco manual has.

Two things I've done, change the blade to a higher grade (Bosch Icon/Tricon) and polish the window with a wax/detailer spray to the point a microfiber glides on it.

So far so good, the only issue is the "haze", I call it hologram, effect until you polish it off.

I may try to loosen the spring tension too.

Heat gun won't do anything.

If you want a different motor why not just warranty it with Ford and let them replace it? It seems like some people have had luck with that.

Going back to vacuum actuated wipers solves everything.

I mean, sure you lose the wipers at stop lights or under hard load, but they still work on my 50's and 60's cars with no issues.

The Bronco? Wipers have issues.

my 15" are Trico Onyx, and I've used both synthetic wax an rain-x :( I might try putting some synthetic wax on the blades themselves

Some people have had luck, others have not. I really don't like dealership techs tearing apart my brand new vehicle, so I'd rather do it myself. And I'm still not convinced the problem is the motor and not too much friction.
