My opinion is that "Yes, absolutely legal and more power to you" from a financial standpoint. But from a, maybe socialistic standpoint, "Don't be greedy. Allow others the chance at a cool rig".
Don't be greedy? Ford let us have 2 reservations. I say, don't be stupid. If you want to have options, do what Ford allows. I owe nothing to people who reserved after me. If you ordered July 20, it's not my fault nor my problem.

You purchase the car for 60k, have to pay ~63k after tax.
That means the next person needs to pay 66k after tax to be the second owner of a car with a 60k msrp.

Best of luck?

First off, what do you think Bronco would be worth used, 6 months after purchase?
I have 2 reservations 5 days apart. The 1st is currently #3 out of 24 allocations, the 2nd is pushed to MY22.
Anything I buy on A-plan I have to keep for 6 months before I can sell it.
I'm on the fence about waiting to see MY22 options, vs getting one now.
6 months after purchase, what's the chance of breaking even on a first build if I wanted to proceed with a second, MY22 build with say, the mansquatch, white modular roof, byod rail, green paint, v-8, Filson interior, and 2nd special edition (heritage edition)? You know, every option we have all been waiting and bitching and moaning about!!
But seriously, think I could break even 6 - 12 months after purchase? Depending on build?
Are you sure you can even get A-plan? There's a rumor in the Bronco thread over on Blue Oval that Ford is pulling all plans back. Some interesting reading on the last few pages of that thread.

There’s also a risk of something being wrong with a specific MY21 option. Bad trans, leaky top, electrical issue, or some other random problem that people will write about all over the internet. Based on how this has been going, there will be issues or kinks, I guarantee it. as an owner with a warranty I will put up with it if I get a my21, but most people buying at that point would wait for the next one. There are way better ways to put that money to work.
People always talk of the fears of first years. I understand but I'm just as concerned with second year. Right now Ford is using suppliers they know but they are also scrambling to find more parts. Will those new parts/companies be up to the same quality or will corners be cut to get a few more pieces out the door.

I guess everyone in this thread is anti capitalism.
We're mostly just anti-asshole. But hey if you're OK with it, then who am I to complain?

I was thinking of doing something similar but for a different reason. I really like the A51 but I really want the white top. I was planning of buying the MY22 with the white top and swapping tops with the MY21. If I could break even I would be thrilled as I saved myself the cost of the white top. My problem is WA sales tax is crushing on cars so I highly question it would pencil out.

It all depends on the production, after 12 months of deliveries, the C8 Corvette still sell $15K above MSRP in some places, sure you can find it at MSRP but you can also sell the right car at $15 above, I am part of multiple wholesale groups and I see them sell on a daily basis, no matter how much you make fun of the poster but cars sell, my friend just sold his to CARMAX $11K above MSRP so go figure, had 700 miles.

If the Bronco's production goes through a lot of issues and hiccups then I can see above MSRP lasts for a while maybe not $15K but enough to cover your tax and registration on a $50K car, unless the economic bubble burst, it's due now, that will change the whole game.

Where the economy goes in the near future is kind of driving my decision on which Bronco I end up ordering. I'm considering a BB that really just fits my needs for the 1st rez, and if everything is looking all sunshine and unicorns on down the road go all in with a BL MSQTCH with modular top.

You might break even but chances are you will not - why would someone want a used vehicle when they can order a brand new one ( just like they want ) at the same price or maybe less. )
Won't be less, 2022 will be more

I have 2 res’s. Late July and a granger $2k off October deal. I got the second res to give me the option to get a 22 if a 22 had options that I want.

My original thought was the July res would be a 21 with fall 2021 delivery and the October res would be a 22 with spring 2022 delivery. I would cancel the July res 21 and take the October res 22 under this case, especially if the 22 had options that I want.

with the latest news, my build has 3 late availability items. thoughts are my July res would be a 22 with spring 22 delivery at best. And the October res would be a 22 or later with delivery who knows when. I would take the July res and cancel the October Under this case.

But who knows how this will end up.

Sounds like you're just a sore slow reservation getter.
July 15th. I'm good with that. Beats being an asshole any day of the week ?
But you do you killer.
