A question for those of you who already own an early Bronco and are going to purchase a new Bronco;

How are you going to decide which one to drive, top down, on those sunny days?

Is it a no brainer? Or will you be torn every time the sun comes out?

I for one will be torn.

Assuming that’s your ride pictured in profile, I’d be choosing that. Looks sweet!

Well, my choice is easy. My EB was built for crawling and is no longer a street friendly rig.

Well, lets face it, the EB is a bear to drive by comparison. Drum brakes, no steering assist, column shifter, a stiff t-case, combined with a real short wheelbase and a fair amount of torque with a decent small block. The new Bronco will be a much better all-arounder, much less daily driver.

*full disclosure - I rolled my dad's 1969 when I was 16, and he was out of town. I don't think he's truly forgiven me. I still owe him a new body tub...

Well, mine needs to be rewired, so probably the new one. :LOL: My EB has no doors or top, so I have a soft top and doors which are doors in name only. I live in FL, which means every day is a sunny day.

Top down on a sunny day? The new Bronco for sure. I have owned a number of EBs, from 1978 to my current 76. All through that time, the top was always on. For most of my life the EB was my daily driver, so security and convenience was my first priority. In fact the only time I had a topless Bronco was when I purchased my current 76. When purchased the top was off until the previous owner and I could make arrangements to pick up the top. Which was in storage. So I got to run topless for about two weeks. After that it was on, because I was back to daily driving an EB again. So for those beautiful days it will be the new 2 door Badlands.

Now I just have to decide which one to build into an Overlanding rig.

The NB will be the daily driver. The EB will be the Sunday driver with top down and for going to the drive in movies with the kids. Nothing like rolling into the movie and folding down the windshield to watch.

Mine's a 96. When I get my new one I will be driving the new one most of the time. I'll be driving my 96 mainly while in that period where my lease ends, and my new Bronco is delivered.

You are correct the original is a beast to drive, but mine has 4 wheel discs, steering assist, hydro boost brakes and many other upgrades. Hence the reason I'm torn

Errands and such, or a long trip to a moderate trail, the new one. Fun cruise or more difficult off-road, the 351W.

Easy. Neither. Mine EB has a hard top that has never been off and will never come off unless I decide to paint. I just don't care for softtops. Living in the South, there are limited times when the temperature and humidity make it comfortable for me. I've had three softtop trucks (yes actual trucks), and I never used the capability. I tried on one of them driving it from the port of entry back home. I made it an hour and I had to put it up because of the August sun mixed with the engine heat was wearing me out. I drove with the top up and the back / side windows off. That wasn't too bad.

I drive the early Bronco about 7 months out of the year. If I have to run a lot of highway miles it would be in the new one, because my early Bronco has 4.11 gears and no overdrive.
