This seems like a big deal to me - no mechanical way to unlock the trunk in general with the doors off without key fob.

Thanks PP5!

So yeah I noticed this the other day. I had my 2 kids in the back so we had the doors off in the front and doors in the back (kits are in car seats).

Well yeah I got out and noticed the rear doors were still locked. I'm like "okay let me hit the unlock button" but yeah NO DOOR! No unlock button. So I reached in to unlock it (you can also do it from the fob).

But yeah it's a WEIRD flaw/bug I think. The doors should unlock when you jump out. Now there MIGHT be an option on the dash to unlock all doors when you stop the truck. I'm pretty sure that might actually be an option.

i forget where but this was already mentioned. i'm sure there could be a firmware update that will sense a door being removed and then not include that door in the locking/unlocking system.

I think in Forscan you should be able to program all the doors to unlock once you are in P (IIRC).

Hmmm ... I locked my keys in my car and I can't open it. SMH

At least she was able to drive home. If it was with standard keys she would have been stuck.

I have more of a problem that you can start the vehicle with it in the back. So what if you have a safe, back or console? Evidently anyone can just start it and take off then?

Um yeah, don’t “lock” your fob in the car thinking the vehicle will be theft proof. The fob needs to be IN the car to start…. I’m not sure how you’d think that would be secure. Unless of course you installed a battery shut off switch hidden somewhere.

You can unlock the vehicle with the Ford Pass App too. (Not saying this might not be annoying for some people. Just another possible fix)

Looks like I'll be lining my hitch safe with some faraday fabric to remedy this situation personally.
