During an internal webcast today, Ford COO Jim Farley claimed the Bronco will be "a much superior product" than the Wrangler.

Obviously, we don't have the specs nor an official look yet at the new Bronco, but we like the rhetoric and moxie being shown by Ford, which hopefully is a hint at just how good the 2021 Bronco truly is!

They also released this product launch infographic, showing that neither the Bronco nor Bronco Sport will be available in Europe (at least for now).

IMO, it needs to have the following to be able to say it's superior

- More powerful engine options
- Better transmission options
- Better off-road tech
- More roof options
- Better value for comparable trims
- More factory customization (colors, fenders, tires/wheels, etc...)

I was gonna add SFA to really rile up some jimmies, but it's actually not that important to me.

Well we can already cross the first two off that list!

What is the IMG market? The Bronco/Sport and F-150 fall into that.

Edit: It means the Middle East.

I think the engine and tranny are a given.

What other roof options would you like? Jeep already has a multi-piece hard top, basic soft top, and a powered soft top. What else is there?

Needs to have those 3 styles plus the option of different colors for them.

To add: I know Jeep offers black, tan, and body color options. I want the Bronco to offer any combination you want.

- More powerful engine options
Near as I can tell, the Wrangler has 3 engine options:

3.6L V6, 285 HP, 260 lb.-ft. torque
2.0L I4, 270 HP, 290 lb.-ft. torque
3.0L Eco-Diesel, 260 HP, 480 lb.-ft. torque

The 2.3L EcoBoost we expect to be the base engine in the Bronco is or has been used in a few different Ford products. Depending on how it's tuned, it makes between 270 HP (Ranger) and 350 HP (Focus RS) and between 305 (Lincoln MKC) and 350 lb.-ft. torque (Focus RS and Mustang).

So that 2.3L base engine, depending on tuning, can beat the HP numbers of all of the Wrangler engines, and while it can't touch the diesel's torque (wouldn't expect it to), it can easily beat the torque numbers of the gas engines. I think we're safe for the "more powerful" aspect.

We also expect some sort of V6, probably the 2.7L EcoBoost (315 to 335 HP, 350-400
lb.-ft. torque, depending on tuning).

I don't see much in Ford's current engine lineup that really rates over 400 lb.-ft. of torque, so unless they surprise us with a Lion (3.0L diesel, 250hp, 440 lb.-ft.), Coyote (5.0L V8, up to 460 HP, 420 lb.-ft.) or a Godzilla (7.3L V8, 430 HP, 475 lb.-ft.), we're not going to see anything that comes even kind of near the torque that Jeep's diesel puts out.

- Better transmission options
Well, it won't have a Chrysler transmission, so I think we're safe there...

The question is when does the Rubicon/Mojave (how hard would it be for Jeep to roll a “Mojavicon”?) beater hit the showrooms.

If MY 2023, then Ford doesn’t have “a much superior product”.

A tune will put the 2.7 well above the diesel's torque at a little higher rpm but the diesel will never touch the 2.7's tuned hp even with it's own tune.

If Jeep offered the diesel with a manual I'd probably already have one though.
