Ford Dealers May Not Have New Inventory Until August

There’s only 3 chip manufactures for the world. Intel is the only US based manufacture. They’re years BEHIND the competition.

Only the bean counters are US based. They technology and manufacturing is all overseas.

Off topic: All OEMs should just move to an order-only model. (I'm not saying like Tesla.) Dealers can still make money with service, parts and F&I. I know it'll never happens, but it's nice to dream.

They would need some type of new car inventory but that would be nice.

This is working out in my favor. My wife's lease Explorer (that we're turning in for our Bronco) has over $7000 in equity (minus MI sales tax) due to low miles from sitting at home from covid and astronomical used car prices.
Our buyout price is 22.5k and Carvana/CarMax are offering 31k and dealer confirmed they will match.

Interesting....my lease is up in november and and I just checked carmax....they are selling lower trim mazda6s with more miles for like 5 or 6 grand more than my buyout....

I don't get it.. drive buy a dealer.. what's the problem. It's not like costco's toilet paper asle.

Dealers near me have only a tiny fraction of what they usual have.

One of the bigger dealerships in town is now advertising heavily to get people to sell him their used cars even if they aren't trading in. That's how few cars he has compared to demand.

The real problem is the next war will be both informational and economic, and China has the ability to employ both to strangle us. The US has morphed into a nation of consumers, not manufacturers, we make very little of what we purchase, and that needs to change or China will hold the power to shut us down.

According to AN's Mike Martinez, dealers may not get new inventory until August. The chip shortage continues to get worse for Ford. This doesn't bode well for anyone, especially dealer salespeople.

Ford has not stated specifically that there is a Bronco MY21 chip shortage. They state a sum of their product line only. We will definitely know once the emails of build timelines get released for sure.

Yeah, there will always be a need for test drives and getting hands on along with product specialists to assist. But 100s of basically the same truck on the lot at the same time? Hmmmm...

I don't think that dream is too far off anymore. With Tesla pushing the envelope I think the "true" dealership model will go away and they will make money like you said parts, service, F&I.

I do wonder how that dealership model would shift car production. I wonder how many Eco Sports or lower margin cars would be built to fill lots. Or hell would they just backorder everything in a crunch and focus on Broncos, Rangers, and other hot sellers?

As a side note, and to be clear I don't believe you are stating otherwise lol! Neil Armstrong was a good friend of my family (not me personally but I've met him). My grandparents were even at his funeral, and he regularly stayed with them at their house in Colorado. Until the day he died he told stories, with complete consistency, in absolute, finite, and verifiable detail, about his experience. There is no way an individual coached or otherwise could do that for 40 years having not actually experienced it. It blows my mind to hear all the conspiracy theories about that from people that did their research on the internet.

Anyway, I agree with you. We have the capability, the capacity, the financial ability, everything we need in general to do this ourselves. But unfortunately I think what it comes down to is that China can do it ALL cheaper, because well, you know Communism enables them to do that. If we start producing this stuff in the US, and that is our only source of materials, the cost of literally everything is going to skyrocket.

I asked Mike Levine if this will effect me getting my vin/ production for mine and he said hard to say stay tuned..... this is ridiculous it’s delay after delay. Let’s hope it doesn’t but still...
